Printing Technician R0000000049 Bucknell UniversityPPM Production Center Position Title: Printing Technician Position Type: Full time Location: Bucknell University Categories: Staff Non-exempt Job Summary: The Printing Technician will set up, adjust, monitor, operate and maintain a variety of networked digital production imaging systems, both black and full color. Responsibilities include total throughput of duplicating and digital printing jobs, either received through the campus network in a variety of formats. This position is responsible for determining the best means of producing images, using both software and hardware tools and features of the equipment to satisfy the specifications defined on the job ticket. The primary assignment for this position is the digital printing responsibilities Job Duties: As a member of the PP&M team, all staff are expected to contribute positively toward fulfilling PP&M's mission of providing high quality print and mail projects for the campus community. Team members are active participants in providing feedback on process improvement, new technologies and ways to enhance, improve and support the department mission. Each member of the department is charged with keeping work areas neat, clean and safe. Staff members are encouraged and expected to take advantage of opportunities for job-related professional development and continuous learning. PP&M team members are committed to maintaining an inclusive working environment that is supportive, respectful and courteous of co-workers and peers as part of a diverse campus community. ● Set up and productively operate a variety of networked digital duplicating machines and printers. ● Load paper, dry ink, and other supplies into the machines as required, and set and adjust various mechanical and electronic controls to assure quality production. ● Perform periodic maintenance, including cleaning and scheduling vendor service calls. ● Maintain a computer-based storage and retrieval system for digital imaging files. ● Operate of various pieces of binding, finishing and ancillary production equipment. ● Consult with fellow staff members and clients, discussing various output options, and keep team members informed of workload and production planning concerns. ● Carry out all operations in accordance with established production standards. Established production standards shall either be developed by Bucknell through time studies of particular activities, or adopted from industry recognized organizations. ● Maintain security, production and control of highly confidential and sensitive documents for the campus. ● Provide other technical and operational support of various machines and processes related to printing production, as assigned by the team leader. ● Perform other functions and work as assigned by the print production team leader. Minimum Qualifications: ● An Associate's degree in printing or at least two years of experience in digital imaging, lithographic press, or print production operations. ● In-depth knowledge of digital imaging systems, the lithographic printing process, printing papers and bindery and finishing operations. ● Knowledge of PDF workflow. ● Good judgment of color, and printing quality and a high degree of mechanical ability are required. ● Demonstrated ability to accurately perform basic mathematical functions. ● Ability to operate computers at an advanced level in a network environment, using both specialized applications as well as standard administrative applications such as e-mail, and the Microsoft Office suite. ● Excellent interpersonal skills, possess strong customer service skills, a commitment to a collaborative team-based work environment, and possess strong verbal communication skills. ● Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment and the ability to work under pressure. ● Must possess a valid PA driver's license. Preferred Qualifications: Physical Demands: ● Ability to routinely lift packages up to 50 pounds, with occasional lifting of up to 125 pounds, with mechanical assistance or help. ● Ability to work in a standing position for extended periods. ● Must be able to tolerate exposure to noise, dust, and fumes, and use personal protective equipment as required. ● Must possess adequate vision to make judgments concerning the overall quality of finished products. Job Exempt: No Salary Range: 18.40-23.00 The offer rate will be based on a review of the candidate's credentials compared to the qualifications of the position, internal equity, and our overall compensation philosophy.
