The Role: This position supports CWU's mission by safeguarding and properly receipting University monies in an accurate and timely manner, by giving excellent customer service to students and their families, as well as, other University employees and outside organizations. Perform fiscally related tasks using a manual and/or computerized system which involves receiving, distributing, transferring, and accounting for funds such as distribution of monies owed or advanced; receipt of payments by cash, check, credit card; and maintenance of internal and external cash flow records. All employees are expected to support CWU's commitment to diversity and to bring and support inclusion into the university environment. Job Duties Cashier Duties: - Receive and record payments made by students, departments, outside agencies and others to the PeopleSoft Student Administration System. - Issue receipts for payments made in person, or through the mail by cash, check, or credit card for tuition and fees, housing, transcripts, general account receivable, Parking fines, departmental deposits, and any other University charges. - Assist students and departments with questions concerning their accounts or deposits. - Perform daily cash reconciliation of payments receipted, research and document discrepancies and makes necessary corrections. - Distribute University checks to individuals or by mail; financial aid refunds, short term loans, payroll, accounts payable and other misc. refunds and payments. - Responsible for safekeeping and distribution of Parking Daily scratch tickets, weekly permits, Wellness permits and Aquacise permits. Additional Duties: - Process web payments. - Open and process mail. - Process returned checks. - Answer Cashier's Office phone line and read and return Cashier's Office emails. - Scholarship processing, including receipt of scholarship checks (in mail) logging checks onto scholarship check log, contacting Financial Aid with questions about the year/quarter to which the checks should be posted, scanning/copying scholarship checks for Financial Aid, posting scholarship payments to accounts. - Reversing and reposting payments that were posted to incorrect terms. - Per request, process student refunds back to credit card in special situations. - Other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED certificate and eighteen months of fiscally related work handling. Large volumes of payment transactions as bank teller or retail salesclerk. Experience with computerized cashier receipting systems. Ability to handle large amounts of cash and credit card transactions in person. Ability to assemble and review fiscal documents according to State and Federal regulations. Demonstrated customer service skills. Demonstrated willingness and/or experience working with students and/or co-workers from a wide range of abilities, backgrounds and experiences. OR applicable combination of education and/or experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position. Preferred Qualifications Training and/or experience in Excel and Word. Experience with PeopleSoft Student Administration software and College Loan Management software. Knowledge of cashiering and bookkeeping procedures involving receipt of funds. Demonstrated participation in programs designed to promote inclusion. Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule Salary : This position is based on the range 32 of the Washington State Classification Listing, which has a minimum annual salary of $33,660 and maximum annual salary of $44,400. In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position. Schedule/Appointment : Monday - Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm (1 hour lunch) Working Conditions : Work is performed in an indoor office setting with frequent in-person interactions. It is essential to be able to remain at a desk/computer workstation for prolonged periods of time, perform extensive data entry and other computer-related tasks and create/maintain filing systems for departmental records.
