Position Detail:
We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to join our team. This position can be fully remote or hybrid.
Reporting to the Director of Global Accounting, the Accounting Manager is responsible for leading our Canadian accounting team and overseeing all Canadian-based accounting functions of the Company including Quebec & Ontario and must be fully bilingual - English and French. The Accounting Manager will provide leadership for a collaborative team of accounting professionals working closely together in preparation of timely and accurate financial information for various entities within FirstLight.

Key Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:
- Oversee the management of the day-to-day accounting operations of all the Company's Canadian operations which includes supporting the integrated business and ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and alignment with organizational goals;
- Develop and enforce accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with Canadian regulations and internal controls, including with our Quebec Operations;
- Oversee the implementation and maintenance of accounting software and systems and ensure the team is trained on new systems and processes;
- Ensure accurate and timely preparation of ad-hoc financial statements and analyses.
- Collaborate with department heads to analyze financial performance;
- Conduct financial analysis to support strategic decision-making and provide insights into financial performance, trends, and variances;
- Oversee the year-end audit processes across the Canadian operations, address any audit findings and implement recommendations for process improvements;
- Directly supervise and lead the accounting team, fostering a high-performance culture through recruitment, training, development, and performance management;
- Stay up to date on changes in accounting regulations and compliance requirements;
- Manage banking relationships, cash flow, and ensure compliance with all loan covenants;
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including auditors, bankers, and vendors;
- Complies with all Corporate policies and procedures;
- Carries out other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications / Skills
- Must be bilingual -English and French; both written and verbal fluency;
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related discipline, required;
- CPA Designation preferred;
- 7+ years of progressive experience in industry or public accounting;
- Extensive knowledge of US GAAP/ASPE;
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency with MS Office, including the ability to develop financial models utilizing advanced Excel functions;
- Prior experience successfully managing a team; remote management, a plus;
- Outstanding organizational, communication and interpersonal skills;
- Excellent attention to detail;
- Strong working knowledge of Maximo, NetSuite, or similar accounting software;
- Proven ability to adhere to strict reporting deadlines;
- Strong sense of integrity and ability to work independently;
- Ability to travel within North America and Canada.
