Description

Summary:

Manage day-to-day accounting activities in accordance with the organization's accounting policies and procedures. Direct and monitor a variety of accounting activities to ensure the organization's financial resources are managed in accordance with accounting principles and comply with all relevant regulations, laws, and standards. These activities may include accounts payable and receivable; general ledger maintenance; financial analysis and reporting; budgeting, revenue, and asset accounting. Review financial reports and accounting statements to ensure their accuracy. Provide technical expertise and advice to functional or operational areas managers to help them develop revenue and expense budgets, understand financial reports, and manage their financial responsibilities. Select and manage ongoing relationships with external consultants and advisors (e. g., accounting firms) to ensure the organization receives satisfactory standards of service. Lead, direct, evaluate, and develop a team of accounting professionals to ensure accounting activities are completed accurately and on time.

Responsibilities:

  • Compliance with Customer Service Standards
  • Supervise accounting staff through assistance with transaction accounting, review of journal entries, review of account reconciliations, assignment of workload, and other supervision as needed
  • Supervise the preparation of accurate monthly financial statements and the preparation of accurate Monthly Operating Reports (MOR) with attention being paid to both the accuracy and aesthetics of all aspects of the MOR
  • Analyze complex transactions and prepare related journal entries, as assigned by the Controller, that include appropriate support in a timely and accurate manner, including maintaining permanent workpapers to document rationale and circumstances for entries
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts (as assigned by the Controller) timely, accurately and with appropriate supporting Documentation
  • Timely identification and investigation of budget variances and unexpected monthly fluctuations for assigned financial statement areas
  • Oversee preparation and compilation of accurate audit schedules requested by external auditors or other third parties
  • Research and prepare detailed, accurate, and easily understandable analyses for management to fully explain all aspects of complex issues or variances, and ensure analyses done by staff meets same requirements
  • Interfaces with auditors to ensure financial statements are prepared in accordance with GAAP
  • Assist with accurate budget preparation, review, and follow-up for all companies
  • Routine review of processes to improve efficiency and quality on an ongoing basis
  • Assist with other projects as assigned by the Controller

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree
