Description

The Knee Regulatory Research Center of the College of Business & Economics at West Virginia University is currently accepting applications for a Research Analyst.

The Research Analyst is responsible for increasing the visibility and dissemination of research output of the Center, which includes peer-reviewed articles intended for academic journals, more focused reports intended for a policy audience, blog posts, speaking engagements, and op-eds intended for general audiences. This person will be responsible for serving as an author for independent research and will report directly to the Director. They will often work as part of a research team, coordinating roles with other members and meeting external and self-imposed deadlines. This role also includes preparing and presenting reports detailing occupational licensing and certificate of need and sharing results with other researchers and key stakeholders. Ability to meet deadlines with little direct day-to-day oversight and ability to multitask is required.

What you'll do:

  • Prepare papers to be published in academic journals
  • Supervise empirical work of PhD students and advanced undergraduate and graduate interns
  • Prepare policy reports, opeds, blog posts, and other public facing publications
  • Present at academic conferences and other events
  • Work as a member of a research team and attending regular meetings updating progress
  • Provide skill development and mentorship for undergraduate or graduate students
  • Regularly attend and participate in professional development conferences
  • Write referee reports for policy papers
Qualifications
  • Masters degree in Economics
  • Two or more years of related work experience
  • Significant publication record in policy and academic publications
  • Specific knowledge and expertise in occupational regulation in the US
  • Specific knowledge and expertise of certificate of need
  • Experience providing testimony, writing opeds, and providing research dissemination
  • Experience with Excel and Word
  • Experience writing academic style working papers and policy briefs
  • Ability to present to large audiences and respond to questions
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time
