Heidelberg Materials is seeking a Yard Worker to join our team in Portland, OR. As a Yard Worker, you will support plant needs by ensuring a safe and productive work environment. In this position, you will have the opportunity to use different skills every day as you learn the aggregate industry and fill in for vacancies in various areas of our plant.

What You'll Get to Do:

• Work with batch plant operator and loader operator to keep site clean and maintained.
• Operate mobile equipment on plant property (loader, Backhoe, haul truck, water truck, man lifts and service truck, etc.)
• Test Ph of site water, move water from storm system to our onsite swale or the city sewer with instruction from supervisor.
• Maintain cleanliness of plant work areas
• Assist with plant tasks including lubrication, maintenance, repairs
• Transport materials to and from storage and shop areas
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations, as well as company policies and procedures; assist with physical inspections of plant property/departments.

Essential Experience and Skills:

• Desire to work cooperatively as part of a productive team
• Ability to work safely, and independently without constant supervision
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Capable of learning through on-the-job training
• Ability to work in extremes of hot and cold weather.
• Ability to work at heights on ladders, platforms, or man lifts.
• In good physical condition, able to lift and carry up to 75 lbs., sit and stand for extended periods of time, kneel, climb ladders, and walk on varied terrain
• Must be able to work flexible schedule with flexible hours, hours vary; overtime work, weekends, and nights may be required.

Preferred Experience and Skills:

• Previous experience in an asphalt, Ready mix, aggregate plant or industrial facility. Preferred but not required.
• Experience using mobile equipment
• Be mechanically inclined

Conditions of Employment:

• Successful candidate must submit to post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check.

Work Environment:

• Role operations primarily in environments where the conditions include moving mechanical equipment, inclement weather, heat, cold, humidity, and elevated noise level.
