The Ohio State University College of Medicine and the Wexner Medical Center seek an academic Vascular Surgeon to join the Department of Surgery. Academic rank and track commensurate with academic record and experience.

Position Overview

The Department of Surgery, Division of Vascular Diseases and Surgery at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is seeking a faculty member at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with previous training and experience.

The successful candidate must be trained in all aspects of open and endovascular procedures including all arterial and venous disorders. The candidate will have extensive knowledge of arterial disease including the aorta, mesentery, carotid, renal, and peripheral. They should preferably have some experience in venous disease, thoracic outlet syndrome, and spine exposure. The Division of Vascular Diseases and Surgery is an extremely busy clinical practice. There is frequent collaboration with surgical oncology, cardiac surgery, and spine surgery. The division has both an accredited vascular fellowship and an integrated vascular residency that will require participation in the training and development of fellows, residents, and medical students. The section also runs ICAVL inpatient and outpatient Vascular Ultrasound Labs with flexible scheduling to support our surgeons. Both, the Division of Vascular Diseases and Surgery and the Department of Surgery are fully committed to providing support for academically inclined candidates. In addition to direct patient care, the successful candidate will participate in quality initiatives, attend regional and national conferences, conduct and develop clinical, translational, and/or basic science research.  Leadership opportunities are available within the division.

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center has two major hospitals for Vascular Surgery coverage, the Richard M. Ross Heart Hospital, and The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center East Hospital.   There are three state-of-the-art outpatient clinical offices. All three locations are equipped for and support outpatient venous procedures. There is also a hybrid OR at the newest location for outpatient procedures.

Ohio State’s Richard M. Ross Heart Hospital is a 180-bed facility, integrated within the Wexner Medical Center University Hospital which comprises an additional 1,500 beds combining the latest technology with patient-focused care. We have 2 Hybrid ORs.The Ross Heart Hospital averages over 600 vascular admissions and 1,820 Vascular OR procedures annually. Press Ganey/HCAHPs scores for patients in the Ross have been in the 97th percentile or above nationally since its opening 12 years ago.

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center East Hospital offers the full-service, high-quality care of a large medical center with the personalized touch of a community hospital. It is a 190-bed facility on Columbus’ East Side. Home to a Level III Trauma Center, East Hospital provides a full range of medical and surgical services to patients throughout central Ohio, including vascular surgery.

The Ohio State University Dorothy M. Davis Heart and Lung Research Institute (DHLRI) employs a team approach to synergize discovery in biomedical research. DHLRI is now one of the largest heart and lung research institutes in the world where physicians, including vascular surgeons, and scientists have access to cutting-edge technologies. Through collaborative efforts with the College of Medicine Office of Research, investigators have a wealth of resources available for research, education, and training. The Grants Management Office within the DHLRI and The Ohio State College of Medicine Office of Research facilitates some of the most advanced research practices in the world.

The 1.9 million-square-foot inpatient hospital is the largest single facilities project ever undertaken at Ohio State with up to 820 beds in private-room settings to elevate patient-centered care, safety, and training for the next generation of healthcare providers.

Requirements
- MD or DO or equivalent
- Board eligible or certified in Vascular Surgery
- Completion of an ACGME approved residency in General Surgery
- Completion of a Vascular Surgery Fellowship
- Must possess or be eligible for licensure in the State of Ohio
