UMS is seeking experienced AMI Meter Installers.

The successful candidate should be self-motivated, have a great work ethic, and be able to work well with little supervision, in various environments or in inclement weather.

 

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

UMS Meter installers on this project can expect to be paid the applicable prevailing wage rate.

  • Monday - Friday work week, occasionally Saturdays

THE POSITION

As a part of our Meter Installation Team, you will be expected to:

  • Remove the existing meters and fit for a new smart meter; sometimes replace a dual check valve and/or curb stop valve
  • Make necessary repairs and replacements; Flush lines
  • Install and activate new meter & transmitters, using project-specific tools within specifications.
  • Replace meter box lids to meet AMI requirements (sometimes)
  • Verify proper orientation of each new meter & carry out tests to make sure the new meter is working
  • Retrieve, execute and input data/findings into the tablet
  • Troubleshoot devices as needed
  • Complete various forms, work orders, reports, & correspondence
  • Assist the field team with meter testing, maintenance, repairs, operating the vacuum and valve trucks, portable pumps and more
  • Visit customer premises; lay and/or replace sod in yards where repair work has been completed and ensure all property is restored
  • Communicate with customers in a clear and professional manner
  • Receive and return meters appropriately at beginning and end of shift
  • Follow UMS standards of safety, productivity, and quality of work
  • Support, train and/or mentor less-experienced installers
  • Perform Quality Assurance audits as needed
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

 

Qualifications:

  • Must have and maintain a valid Driver’s License
  • Must have and maintain proof of vehicle insurance
  • Must pass drug screening and background check
  • Must have your own vehicle with storage capability
  • Must have a mechanical aptitude
  • Must be okay with heat, dirt, small spaces, etc.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs., bend and stoop repetitively, kneel and work outdoors in all weather conditions and environments
  • Basic tools required
  • Able to work in a team environment.
  • Have clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to work all required shifts.
