Job Summary

Perform experiments in a bench scale fermentation setup to maximize production efficiency and yields.

Summary of Essential Job Functions

  • Monitor and operate a control panel to maintain 30L jars in order to ensure operation is within normal parameter;
  • Media Prep, Collect and test strain from fermenter, plating
  • Organization of lab;
  • Maintain a clean lab;
  • Perform inoculations;
  • Jar Maintenance, perform sterilization on jars;
  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Ability to participate in a high performance team-based environment that is fast-learning and adaptive;
  • Ability to communicate effectively and participate in a continuous improvement culture, including utilizing problem solving skills;
  • Willing to cross-train into other areas; ensure conformance to standard work by following the process; communicate any issues to the appropriate resources in a timely manner;

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Work Schedule: This position works 12-hour shifts (36 / 48 hours per week alternating, rotating nights & days every 4 weeks), which includes days, nights, weekends, holidays and overtime.
  • This position primarily works in a laboratory environment, but will work occasionally in a manufacturing environment, which may include which includes exposures to moving mechanical parts, high noise levels, vibrations, varying atmospheric conditions and temperatures, hazardous chemicals, high pressure steam, and dust
  • This position regularly requires the ability to remain in a stationary position up to 90% of shift, standing, walking extended distances, frequently ascending/descending stairs extended distances, close/distance vision.
  • Ability to lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds as necessary
  • Must have the ability to work at low laying levels for jar maintenance;

Education:

  • High school diploma / GED
  • Lab experience is preferred;
