Job Overview/Description:
The Industrial painter is responsible for applying the initial and secondary layers of gelcoat onto the outer surfaces of company product/equipment. The painter is responsible for ensuring proper surface preparation, using tack cloths to eliminate debris or contaminants. Employing standard painting techniques, the painter applies a primer coat followed by a more crucially consistent white coat, which may serve as the final layer for customers. Maintenance of equipment functionality, addressing issues with spray, delivery, catalyst ratio, etc., falls under the painter's duties. Additionally, the painter transfers traceable serial numbers and oversees the curing process, striving for uniformity and defect-free surfaces as per customer and internal standards.

Responsibilities:
1. Learn and implement correct spray techniques.
2. Mask off unpainted areas.
3. Record paint usage data for environmental reports.
4. Ensure proper surface preparation, using solvent or tack rags to remove contaminants.
5. Maintain spray equipment, including rebuilding pumps, guns, and replacing hoses for optimal performance.
6. Clean paint equipment to prevent cured gelcoat blockages in tips, orifices, and hoses.
7. Maintain the spray booth, ensuring adequate airflow, replacing filters, and optimizing air flow through the filter face.
8. Monitor curing process under heaters, detecting catalyst ratio discrepancies.
9. Ensure quality, consistency, and aesthetics of surface gelcoat.
10. Collaborate with Finishing Lead and Master Scheduler/Expeditor to maximize throughput and meet customer deadlines.

The position requires passing a pulmonary test for wearing a paint mask, the ability to lift 50lbs, read job travelers or customer prints, move arms/wrists freely for even gelcoat application, and stand for extended periods.
