Description

Job Summary:

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety, predictive, and productive maintenance systems and processes. They will assist in the installation and development of automated within the facility.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform repairs or maintenance work to ensure optimal performance and minimize production downtime, including routine preventative maintenance.
  • Maintains a safe and organized work environment in compliance with Corporate/OSHA safety standards, and performs all work while adhering to all safety regulations and guidelines. and machinery.
  • Organizes and maintains the maintenance cage and spare parts inventory.
  • Provides emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
  • Reads and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Diagnoses problems, replaces or repairs parts, tests and makes adjustments.
  • Uses a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment, including forklifts, scissor lifts and boom lifts in performing duties.
  • Detects faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to supervisor or management.
  • Assists with new projects including fabrication and installation of piping, conduit and cables.
  • Performs programming and troubleshooting for automated equipment including PLC’s, HMI’s and robots to resolve performance issues.
  • Accurately documents changes and updates to equipment.
  • Diagnose and resolve electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic problems with equipment.

General Functions:

  • Collaborates with other members of the team to ensure that deadlines are met, while minimizing machine down-time.
  • Consistently abides by established safety rules, procedures, and regulations including wearing required safety equipment such as safety shoes and glasses.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work environment.
  • Identifies and reports issues to supervisor or manager.
  • Works effectively with co-workers and supervisors, sharing knowledge, resources, and experience to achieve goals in a timely fashion, while promoting respect, communication, and teamwork.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Participate in a rotating on call schedule to cover overnight and weekend emergency repairs as needed
Requirements

Skills and Abilities:

  • Fluent in PLC programming-both interpreting and building new programs.
  • Familiar with Rockwell Automation PlC’s and HMIs.
  • Adaptable to other brands of equipment as needed.
  • Familiar with ANSI and OSHA safety requirements.
  • Problem solving skills: The ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and solve complex electrical issues.
  • Attention to detail: The ability to identify and differentiate numerous parts, pieces, components and wires and understand their functions and interactions.
  • Time management skills: The ability to work efficiently and prioritize tasks is important to minimize machine and equipment downtime.
  • Communication skills: Good verbal and written communication skills are important to work effectively with other department and team members.
  • Follow directions: The ability to follow step by step standard procedures based on the manufacturer's recommendations and trade recommendations and protocols.
  • Moderate math skills: The ability to count, read, calculate and use various measures in the execution of the job.
  • Attention to safety: The ability to follow safety procedures and guidelines when using tools and equipment is important to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Dependability: Reliability and consistency of attendance, punctuality, and completion of assigned tasks according to established standards and expectations with little supervision.
  • Computer skills: Proficiency in using software and Microsoft Office applications, including software for maintenance tracking and reporting, as well as computer diagnostic equipment.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • An associate degree, or equivalent work experience.
  • Advanced knowledge working with automated PCL based equipment and processes.

  • Noise level: The employee will be exposed to moderate to high noise levels in the workplace for the majority of the day, due to the constant machine operation, use of electrical equipment and hand-held power tools.
