On-Demand Courier Dispatcher

At Excel Courier and Logistics we specialize in high-touch time critical transportation and logistics. Our dispatchers organize and monitor daily on call and scheduled work.  They route all vehicle work, enter job orders, monitor on time performance, and maintain general dispatch quality control.  Their skills and responsibilities include: 

• Clear and timely communication with couriers, clients, and on-site teammates
  
• Use of multiple transportation technology platforms to maintain real time tracking and communication
  
• Monitor phones, email, client portals, fax and maintain situational awareness for new orders or updates
  
• Support new customers and couriers for team success
  
• Pull parts from warehouse as required

This position will train M-F 0900 - 1800.  The duration of the training period depends on the employee.  The regular shift will be Friday - Monday with hours as early as 7:00am and as late as 7:00pm. We operate 24/7/365.  This position requires significant flexibility in scheduling.  This position is on-site daily to support our 24/7/365  operations.

One year experience dispatching and routing on call courier work is required. Knowledge of the Washington D.C. metropolitan area as well as Baltimore, Richmond, and South Central Pennsylvania are required.  You must be able to read a map and evaluate routes.

We must be able to work in a fast paced environment, handle stressful situations, lift and handle packages up to 50lbs, and maintain a professional and customer-friendly demeanor.  The ability to visually distinguish color is required. You will need to satisfactorily complete a background and drug screening. What we do is vital for our business partners and our operations run 24/7/365.  Our dispatch shifts may include a 4-day work week of 10 hour days.  Availability is key. Benefits Include all of the standard stuff you would expect from a successful company operating for over 35 years.
