Job Description
The Technology & Innovation Policy Analyst will work with the Director of Technology & Innovation Policy and other American Action Forum (AAF) researchers on a variety of tasks. This position will be responsible for original research and analysis of key technology, telecom, data privacy, and related policy proposals, legislative initiatives and enacted laws. The Technology & Innovation Policy Analyst will be expected to write concise research papers, contribute data analysis to larger written products, and support the Director of Technology & Innovation Policy with timely analysis and background memos. This position will work on the larger AAF policy team and report to the Director of Technology & Innovation Policy.

A successful candidate will be a detail-oriented, have a firm grasp of key issues in tech and telecom policy, and have excellent quantitative research skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • This position is responsible for assisting with AAF's technology & innovation policy products, and must be proactive about pursuing research and locating data sources
  • This position requires the ability to investigate a wide swath of relevant policy questions in order to succinctly explain key policy issues
Qualifications and Skills
  • Degree in economics, public policy, political science or related field. Statistics or law coursework preferred
  • Broad working knowledge of key tech and telecom issues
  • Strong research skills and demonstrable expertise working with various research databases or statistical packages. Experience using statistical packages (such as SAS, STATA, or R) or legal databases (such as LexisNexis, West Law) is useful but not essential
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and shift priorities efficiently with little notice
  • An interest in working for a think tank that emphasizes smaller government, sensible conservative policy solutions, and smart policy options that benefit the American public and avoid unnecessary federal government overreach
