WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR IN THIS ROLE

The Forklift Driver will drive electric powered or propane powered industrial truck with lifting devices such as a forklift to push, pull, lift, stack, tier or move products, material, and equipment. This person will be responsible to obtain and transport proper packaging supplies to production staging area from warehouse storage, as well as transport pallets of finished product from production to shipping areas in a timely manner.

  • Responsible for heavy equipment operation, including forklifts, yard lifts, pallet jacks, and shuttle trucks
  • Collect, rotates, dumps and stores raw product into cull trailers, rotates stock in cold storage on rare occasion, inventories stock in cold storage, and accomplishes all other tasks requiring the use of specified heavy equipment
  • Obtain supplies from warehouse storage racks for production and transport to appropriate staging areas as required
  • Remove packing, banding and place in proper receptacles, remove empty pallets, cardboard packing, and strapping to the dumpster or other appropriate receptacles
  • Transport pallets of finished product from production to shipping areas with Forklift
  • Open loading dock doors, set dock plate, inspect empty trailers at the loading dock to insure they are clean and clear before loading
  • Inspect vehicle at beginning and end of each shift
  • Perform other duties as assigned

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Current driver's license, appropriate training and certifications
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Good mathematical skills

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Forklift certification is required
  • High School Diploma or equivalent; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 1 to 2 years verifiable forklift experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Six months to one-year experience in a production facility
  • Bilingual (English / Spanish)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Environmental exposure- cold/wet conditions (40 °ree; or below)
  • Material exposure-moving mechanical parts
  • Occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles and vibrations
  • Must be able to lift to 50 lbs.
