Reports to: Senior Accountant, Director of Finance, CFO


Position Overview

Tuckernuck is looking for an Accounting Analyst that will be  responsible for the day-to-day financial activities that comprise the Company’s General Ledger. The Accounting Analyst will help manage the Company’s transactions and communicate important details to the finance team. The person in this position will also perform monthly close activities to ensure accurate and timely reporting. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the intricacies of financial transactions within an organization. The Accounting Analyst will play an important role in keeping our company’s financial outlook bright with attention to detail and proactive measures. 


Core Responsibilities

The Accounting Analyst is responsible for the following areas: 

Cash and Accounts Payable Management

  • Monitor the company’s cash situation on a daily basis
  • Review the bank statement daily and ensure that all items are entered timely into NetSuite
  • Manage payments to vendors to ensure timely payment and receipt of goods
  • Prepare regular disbursements, including monthly rent payments and any payments related to contractual agreements 
  • Maintain a detailed understanding of the AP Aging report

Data Management in NetSuite

  • Allocate all disbursements to the proper accounts
  • Work with all departments to make sure that we are receiving invoices in a timely manner
  • Verify that payments to contractors are correctly categorized in NetSuite to ensure timely and accurate preparation of 1099 tax forms
  • Work with internal employees to accurately record all company card transactions and employee expense reports 

Sales Tax Responsibilities

  • Work with the Avalara reports to approve the monthly sales tax filings
  • Review sales tax codes of inventory to ensure proper sales tax collection, especially new inventory categories added to the site 
  • Manage correspondence from states related to tax changes and notices 
  • Assist Senior Accountant in the reconciliation of sales tax collected and remitted

Month End Close Responsibilities

  • Ensure all financial transactions are entered in NetSuite
  • Close Accounts Payable and all related disbursements
  • Reconcile bank statements for all cash and credit card accounts 
  • Reconcile the sales tax liability accounts in NetSuite
  • Prepare monthly journal entries for review
  • Provide insight and reasoning for certain transactions to the finance team during the monthly financial statement close review meeting

Understanding and shaping processes and controls in current and new systems 

  • Demonstrate strong understanding of our current systems, including Netsuite, Retail Ops, Shopify, and Avalara
  • Work closely with stakeholders to resolve any issues related to the current and new systems as they relate to financial reporting


Minimum Qualifications

  • A four-year college degree is required.  A major in Accounting is helpful. Majors in Accounting, Finance, Management or Business are appropriate.
  • Two or more semesters of accounting are required.
  • Preferred two or more years of experience, preferably in the apparel or consumer goods industries 


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Proficient knowledge of accrual accounting
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with other team members
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Windows®, Word ®, and Excel®, experience with NetSuite is a plus
  • The maturity to deal with sensitive and confidential information professionally
  • The ability to perform a high volume of transactions accurately with limited supervision
  • Comfort in dealing with new technology and systems
  • The ability to perform multiple projects simultaneously
