General Description / ObjectiveThe Manager in Training supports with daily operations of all feedyard functions. They work in conjunction with the Assistant and Feedyard Manager to meet and exceed the operational standards set by the company leadership. Your on-the-job training will focus on enhancing your management and technical skills.
This role will work closely with all feedyard departments both as an individual and as a member of a team to create the highest quality care and maintenance to ensure the welfare and functionality of the feedyard.Roles and Tasks

- Assist with the management of the department assigned.
- Support the routine care and feeding of beef cattle kept in the feedlot.
- Be a part of the Leadership Academy and development opportunities at the location.
- Work with Feedyard Management to support operations and identify improvements.
- Ensure that proper husbandry techniques and feeding programs are in place to promote optimal growth for each animal in the herd.
- Support feedlot, appropriate safety standards, and relations with employees, suppliers, and customers.
- Assist with preparing short- and long-term operational plans supportive of the feedlot in conjunction with the Assistant and Feedyard Manager
- Assist with reporting of weekly and monthly feedlot performance.
- Assist with repairing and maintaining equipment and structures such as stock water, yards, buildings, etc.
- Help establish and maintain proper pen stocking to maximize Feedyard efficiency.
- Assist with nutritional and veterinary guidelines to ensure compliance with animal health and welfare requirements.

- Establish and manage customer relationships, community, and personnel relations.
- Adhere to HR policies and best practices.
- Any other job tasks as assigned.
- Must have mechanical ability and desire to learn.
- Bilingual preferred
- Experience in animal settings.
- Demonstrated leadership ability, with the ability to engage and motivate others.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Good reasoning, conflict management, and analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with Microsoft suite of applications including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is strongly preferred.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
