$5000 Sign-On Bonus - Mobile Crisis Team

We are continuing to expand our Mobile Crisis team through the Region 1 area of Central Virginia. Beginning on 08/29/2020, a sign-on bonus of $5000 is to be paid upon receipt of background clearances, including fingerprint background checks, drug screening & satisfactory references. Employees receiving a sign-on bonus are expected to continue employment with Horizon for a year at minimum.

Position Summary:

The Clinician / Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP-C) will provide mobile crisis responses to Region 1 CSB catchment area schools, homes, and community settings between the hours of 12pm - 8pm. Staff will work 7.5 hours per day, and will rotate from either a 12pm-7:30pm response, or a 12:30pm-8pm response window. Mobile crisis response will include assessing crisis situation and providing de-escalation and support for the child/adolescent and their family in crisis. Clinician will have ongoing support and clinical guidance from a licensed supervisor. Because this position is mobile in nature, the clinician will work from home. Company vehicle and gas card will be provided to employee.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university in an applicable human services field.
  • A minimum of one year of documented clinical experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience that qualifies the incumbent as a QMHPC.

Position Overview:

The Clinician / Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP-C) on the Mobile Crisis team will report to a Mobile Crisis Clinical Coordinator serving the designated Community Services Board Coverage area(s), and will be responsible for the following:

  • CLINICAL SERVICES - Provide immediate crisis supports to schools, homes, and communities within assigned catchment areas; Will respond between 1-2 hour to crisis episodes, based on catchment area requirement; Provide transportation for children/youth and parent/guardian in agency vehicle if deemed appropriate and safe (will staff with supervisor before providing transportation).
  • DOCUMENTATION - Documents all services and results in the individual’s electronic health record by established timelines; Documents progress and maintains a permanent record of individual’s activity according to established methods and procedures; Oversees Medicaid- and Medicare-related paperwork and record keeping; All documentation must be completed within 24 hours of initiating such services.
  • COLLABORATION - Communicates effectively and efficiently with Region One Mobile Crisis Clinical Coordinator; Collaborates with Region 1 CSB's, community partners/stakeholders, and parties involved in client's treatment (this includes school systems, private providers, DSS, etc.); Suggests referrals to appropriate community services.

Related Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Clinician / Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP-C)

Knowledge of behavior modification; Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT); emergency interventions; family, group, and individual therapies; psychosocial education; risk assessments; sex offender treatment; substance abuse interventions; Knowledge of community mental health and public health in order to provide advocacy and enhance an individual’s treatment and access to community resources; Knowledge of the principles, procedures, techniques, trends, and literature related to mental health, developmental disabilities and substance abuse; Ability to communicate effectively in order to facilitate treatment and relay information to others as part of an interdisciplinary team; Ability to perform clinical interviews in order to obtain information and to formulate appropriate treatment plans; Willing and available to work modified schedules (weekends, holiday, etc.) as required; Ability to drive and must possess a valid driver’s license - Highly mobile position and will not be performed in an office-based setting.
