Job Title: Senior Accountant

About the Role: Are you a financial professional with a passion for making a difference? The Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our team. As a Senior Accountant, you will play a crucial role in our Accounting and Finance Department, aiding in financial workflow, ensuring accuracy, and contributing to the financial stability of our organization.

Key Responsibilities: As a Senior Accountant, you will:

  • Act as a key player in the invoice approval process, ensuring accurate coding.
  • Review card expenses and employee reimbursements for compliance and accuracy.
  • Manage the payroll function, including payroll reviews, benefit reconciliations, and tax setup.
  • Prepare schedules for retirement plans and ensure compliance.
  • Reconcile quarterly filings and deposits.
  • Review bank reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Assist in audit and tax preparation.
  • Maintain electronic work-paper files and binders.
  • Respond to financial inquiries promptly.
  • Collaborate with outside accounting consultants.
  • Support grant reporting and staff financial training when needed.

Minimum Requirements: To excel in this role, you'll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in full-cycle Accounting or Finance.
  • 3+ years of experience processing payroll.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially MS Excel.
  • Experience in Sage Intacct.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Impeccable attention to detail.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in ADP Workforce Now software or similar payroll software.
  • 2-3 years of experience in a progressive not-for-profit environment.
