Job Description

Our government client is currently looking for an Operations Manager to join their team. They are seeking a highly motivated individual with great attention to detail. The Operations Manager oversees staff managing daily operations of Fixed Route and Demand Response transportation operations, including dispatching, fleet management, and safety and training functions.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitors transit mode performance and makes recommendations regarding actions and plans to continuously improve service delivery.
  • Oversees the fair and consistent administration of rules and regulations governing driver conduct, appearance, and vehicle operation.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations governing public transportation, including safety standards and ADA requirements.
  • Assists with the development and implementation of standard operating procedures and required FTA policies.
  • Works with other departments in compiling required documents for CDOT/FTA triennial reviews; ensures compliance with FTA regulations.
  • Responsible for management of third-party operations contracts, including expenses and quality control.
  • Responsible for all budget aspects for Operations and Safety, including the monitoring and control of overtime.
  • Observes safety and security procedures, uses equipment and materials safely and reports potentially unsafe conditions.
  • Leads a team of transportation professionals, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to ensure high performance and accountability.
  • Assists with the preparation of reports, proposals, and recommendations to senior management and governing bodies.
  • Receives, investigates, and responds to difficult and sensitive problems and complaints in a professional manner; identifies and reports findings and takes necessary corrective action.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Transportation Management, Public Administration, Business Administration, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experience in public transportation, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Experience managing transit operations contracts.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with diverse stakeholders.
  • Certification from relevant professional associations (e.g., CTAA, APTA) is a plus.
