Job Description

Job Description
The DNC is hiring a Director for Distributed Organizing. This person will design, implement, and oversee the DNC’s national distributed organizing program to elect Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, and Democrats up and down the ticket, working closely with the National Organizing Director and states programs. The National Distributed Director will collaborate with external partners and key leadership in battleground states to support programs as needed and build mobilization and recruitment programs that drive voter contact. The Distributed Director will build a culture of excellence across the regional teams to hit ambitious goals and build a large organization of volunteers and volunteer leaders. Ideally, this candidate has experience managing managers, and is comfortable efficiently working across departments in the DNC, with partner campaigns, and with core stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and oversee a national distributed organizing program to drive key state voter contact and volunteer recruitment through national expansion state capacity;
  • Hire and manage a team of distributed organizing staff to hit ambitious voter contact, volunteer recruitment, and organization-building goals;
  • Manage distributed voter contact tools and work with vendors and the DNC team to troubleshoot issues as they arise;
  • Provide resources for state staff as needed for distributed programs and programs;
  • Work with the regional managers to conduct weekly data deep dives on goals, volunteer health, and creative tactics to expand the distributed volunteer organization;
  • Manage a project manager to build internal and external systems and structures to support the organizing program, especially with external and internal partners and departments.

You’ll be a good fit for this role if…

  • 7+ years of relevant experience, with at least 1 cycle of managing managers and over 10 staff;
  • You’ve got strong organizational skills and can effectively and efficiently manage multiple projects at once in high-pressure environments– and communicate outwards your challenges, progress, and needs to stakeholders;
  • You’re an expert with predictive dialer technology and peer-to-peer texting tools;
  • Building and managing a virtual volunteer program is your jam, including virtual volunteer training and using digital tools to manage a volunteer network.
  • You’ve got clear and concise interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, and can do so quickly;
  • You’re a born manager and coach of people: you’re excited to empower staff to maximize their talents; willing to lean into conflict and coaching where needed to achieve and exceed goals; able to clearly share expectations to a team across time zones.
  • You’re a born executor– driving projects and all their nitty, gritty details from beginning to end excites you.
  • No task is too small - you are as comfortable chasing approvals and making copy edits as you are having a 1:1 with a volunteer or writing a surrogate memo.

Salary: The salary for this position is $120,000, on an annualized basis. This is a full-time position that may require work on weekends.

Due to FEC regulations, only U.S. citizens or U.S. green card holders are eligible to apply for this role. See 52 U.S.C. 30121; 11 C.F.R. 110.20(i).
