Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Provide direct medial services to patients of the clinic including examination, diagnosis, planning and treatment and evaluation of progress with an emphasis on prevention.
  2. Keeps accurate records and adequately detailed information to allow: continuity of patient care among providers; quality assurance activities requiring record review; and accurate and truthful coding of diagnosis, services provided, and billing of service charges.
  3. Remains cognizant of charges to individual patients. Provides support staff with billing information according to agreed-upon procedures relative to all billable services including those provided in settings other than the clinic.
  4. Return patient and other provider phone calls as necessary.
  5. Communicates appropriately with patients and patient’s families regarding patient’s condition and treatment.
  6. Keep regularly scheduled clinic hours and is available to provide patient care at all times during these hours.
  7. Cooperates in promoting the team concept of health care delivery.
  8. Assists Medical Director in determining and conducting in-service training sessions for support staff.
  9. Provides clinical supervisor to medical support staff.
  10. When requested, advises Clinic Manager, Medical Director, Chief Executive Officer, or Board of Directors on questions involving medical matters.
  11. In collaboration with Clinic Manager, Medical Director, Chief Executive Officer, and other professional staff members, assist in development and periodic updating of any standards of care, principals of practice, standing orders, clinical protocols (including those governing mid-level providers), support staff job description (to delineate responsibilities of each team member), and other medical policies that may be promulgated by RHCA.
  12. Advise Clinic Manager, Medical Director and Chief Executive Officer in matters concerning staff professionalism and conduct of professional and support staff.
Requirements:

Education and/or Experience:

  1. Graduated from an accredited school of medicine
  2. Licensure to practice medicine in the state of Kentucky
  3. Board Certified
  4. Must maintain current BLS or ACLS and DEA registration


Other Skills and Abilities:

  1. Good conceptual skills and ability to synthesize multiple view points into a common purpose.
  2. Ability to assess, organize and plan; demonstrated skills in problem identifications and problem solving.
  3. Ability to exercise judgment and work independently under general direction.
  4. Ability to work flexible hours.
  5. Ability to function as a team member.
  6. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  7. Ability to take the initiative and provide leadership to enhance quality interactions with clients in the community.
  8. Computer literate and capable of operating an EMR.

SOFTWARE SKILLS: Experience with eClinical Works is a plus. Must be proficient with MS office suite.


WORKING CONDITIONS:

  1. Normal office environment.
  2. Periodic local, state and national travel; travel between Health Center and Administrative Sites
  3. Physical Demands: Lifting, bending, reaching, pushing, carrying, sitting, vision corrected in normal range, hearing corrected in normal range
  4. Hazardous Conditions: Exposure to infectious diseases; potential exposure to physical violence
  5. Machines, equipment, tools and supplies used: computer, postage machine, fax, copier, calculator, multi-line phone system
