Pay rate $18.93Description:

The Teacher Assistant will work under the supervision of the classroom teacher and under the general supervision of the Assistant Coordinator of Educational Services to assist in maintaining a well planned instructional program.

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent. One year related experience preferred. Plus a minimum of 18 credit hours of college coursework.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Organized and efficient.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to apply behavior management skills.
Responsibilities:
  • Reinforce the lesson plans of the day as delegated by the classroom teacher.
  • Check each day's work as it is handed in; to see that it's completed with all corrections, done with the child if needed.
  • Assist in teaching lessons under the supervision of the classroom teacher and when the teacher is absent.
  • Attend meetings for the teacher when s/he is absent. Teacher assistants should also attend all T.A. meetings.
  • Attend all T.A. meetings.
  • Perform various child supervision duties such as: escorting a child to and from any part of the school, provide appropriate supervision during lunch.
  • Assume responsibility of the class in the absence of the teacher.
  • Assist teacher in maintaining a safe classroom environment.
  • Substitute in other program classrooms when school is short staffed, per Assistant Coordinator's request.
  • Take part in QI training and demonstrate commitment and active participation in the agency's ongoing Quality Improvement Program.
  • Other duties as assigned by the classroom teacher or school administration during scheduled work times, i.e. photo copying.
