Position: M & R Manager Department: Maintenance and Repair

Reports To: Director, M&R M2

Position Summary: Under the direct supervision of the Director of Maintenance, this position provides billing and support to the M&R Department. In addition to general office tasks, performs duties such as working with labor on shop repairs, handling trade, and preparing work orders for invoice documentation. Independent judgement is required to plan, prioritize, and organize diversified workload. Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.

Essential Functions

  1. Perform sound estimates for containers and chassis brought in by truckers or down from the pier
  2. Work with Labor in Shop, Reefer or Roadability to answer questions regarding estimates, additional work, operations, etc.
  3. Ensure shops are working in a safe manner and participate and lead in monthly safety meetings
  4. Assist customers via phone and/or email
  5. Handling HAZ/MAT Placard issues
  6. Assist Director in the development of Newport systems, and help mechanics with any issues they have while using the system
  7. Work with customers on Out of Service issues and make adjustments to customers’ equipment that has been surveyed
  8. Review internal or customer based Out of Service reports to ensure accuracy
  9. Data entry for Port Liberty New York Gen-Set and Reefer repair’s into Newport Systems
  10. Finalize purchase orders - code all invoices - scan and email to A/P department
  11. Roadability Calls - N4 Management - Assist Truckers - Line Calls
  12. Vendor phone calls & A/P Issues - Facility Maintenance Issues
  13. Generate Genset MT/DM report from Newport - Email to Lines
  14. Generate Reports - Inventory - Bid List Preparation - Handheld Issues
  15. Monitor Newport Systems - Reconcile Work Orders - Work with Newport to correct issues
  16. Drive to Terminal for Vendor, M&R, Facility Issues as necessary

Supervisory Responsibility

This position will supervise ILA labor individuals.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office and industrial shop and Marine Terminal environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, photocopiers and smartphones.

Physical Working Condition:

  • The ability to climb up and down ladders.
  • The ability to work in changing hot and cold climates based on weather conditions.
  • The ability to work in an environment that may be hazardous to persons unable to see and hear fast moving equipment.
  • Individual may be required to work overtime, weekend hours and regular shift rotations.
  • The ability to drive vehicles on terminal.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Required Education and Experience

  • Minimum of a High School diploma.
  • College, Business school degree and/or 10 years of previous experience in Maintenance and Repair department preferred.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Excel and Word.

Tools: Must possess a valid driver’s License, Pier Superintendent’s license from the Waterfront Commission and TWIC card.

Benefits:

  • Salary Range: $65,600.00 to $98,400.00 annually + bonus + benefits
