Mastercam Programmer – CNC Milling 3/4/5 Axis
BSI is currently looking for a skilled Mastercam programmer to create and edit CNC programs for our Haas 3/4/5 axis milling machines. This is an office position but will require daily collaboration with the team on the plant floor to assist with set-ups and other technical issues. It is essential that the candidate for this position have extensive experience programming and operating CNC machines with “at the control” programming experience, as well as vast knowledge of tooling, fixturing and set-ups.
This candidate must have a minimum 7 years’ experience doing advanced machining and programming.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Previous programming experience with 3/4/5 axis milling machines and intricate knowledge of creating and editing programs using Mastercam software.
- Experience setting up, programming, and operating CNC Mills, up to full 5-axis.
- Experience in program optimization, fixture design and implementation and a strong problem-solving mentality.
- A strong foundation of G Code programming with the ability to read, understand, generate, and edit existing programs.
- Extensive familiarity with Haas and Fanuc machine controls.
- Ability to read, understand and work from drawings, blueprints, GD&T, operation instructions, material specifications, and production orders.
- Previous experience performing machining operations on parts with high levels of complexity and tight tolerances and specifications.
- The ability to proficiently use a large variety of precision inspection equipment including OD and ID micrometers, vernier and dial calipers, dial gages, bore gages, block gages, etc.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Create programs with Mastercam for CNC machine tools.
- Work with shop floor personnel for first part checking and set-up verification.
- Maintain systems for the storing of program and CAM files and the distribution of programs for the plant floor per BSI policy.
- Work with other programmers and BSI scheduling personnel to make sure that all necessary programs, tooling and fixturing are completed and ready prior to the day they are needed for production.
- Work with BSI personnel and tooling suppliers to make sure that the best suited and most efficient tooling is used.
- Work with QA and Management to help reduce set-up time, cycle time, and reduce non-confirming parts.
