Assistant Swim Coach - OPEN UNTIL FILLED

I.  Position Title:  Assistant Swim Coach

II. Summary of Overall Purpose of Position:  Under the overall direction of the Aquatics Manager/Recreation Specialist and the direct supervision of the Swim Coach, coaches children in various competitive strokes such as freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and the butterfly and coaches athletes in swimming activities.  

Duties:

- Coaches athletes in swimming activities, instructs athletes on proper swimming form and techniques.
- Assists the  Swim Coach as needed. 
- Encourages and promotes team spirit and good sportsmanship at all times. 
- Helps create effective yearly, seasonal, monthly and daily plans for the team and its athletes. 
- Coordinates swimming competitive events; organizes athletes and ensures attendance at events. 
- Prevents accidents by enforcing all facility related policies, rules and regulations.  
- Attends staff meetings and other applicable meetings. 

Marginal Duties

- Performs other duties as assigned. 

III. Qualifications

Experience/Experience:  Experience in competitive swimming and previous coaching preferred.  

Certifications:  CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, Basic First Aid and Safety Training for Swim Coaches, current Swim Instructor Training Certificate. 

Knowledge of: The rules and regulations applicable to swim meets, swimmer eligibility, stroke and turn and other related technical aspects of competitive swimming.    

Communication Skills:  Communicating effectively both orally and in writing. 

Tool, Machines, Equipment Operation:  Rescue equipment, communication equipment, medical equipment, etc.
