Named for the historic Howser Cafe and located in the same building on St. Clair Street, Howser Tavern is a high end bourbon bar with a light food menu of charcuterie and sandwiches. Bar offerings will include many bourbons, wine, beer and craft cocktails.

Howser Tavern is searching for experienced candidates for the position of Restaurant Manager. Must be 21+ years of age.
Requirements:All managers are cross trained on FOH and BOH duties.
Responsibilities:
- Accomplishes restaurant human resource objectives by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions; planning and reviewing compensation actions; and enforcing policies and procedures.Ensure a great guest experience from start to finish
- Become knowledgeable about our craft beer and spirits selections and be able to convey the unique qualities of the Goodwood brand to our customers
- Be a role model and hold team members accountable to operational and quality standards
- Completes the duties of a line cook when needed, and is capable of performing the duties of all kitchen positions
- Anticipates, identifies, and corrects any issues with inventory, systems, and staffing.
- Foster communication between FOH and BOH employees
- Ensures compliance with state, federal, and local food handling requirements and standards
- Provides direction to kitchen staff, ensuring execution of all employee duties
- Supervise food prep and cooking
- Ensures products are stored at the correct temperatures and the recipe books are up to date with current menu items, portions, and ingredients.
- Schedule kitchen staff shifts
- Order food supplies and kitchen equipment, as needed
- Ensures utilization of daily prep sheets and meat/fish yield sheets daily and that product counts are recorded accurately daily. Participates in monthly inventory process.
- Oversees and approves training and development of kitchen staff. Monitors labor costs to attain budgeted goals within restaurant policies and procedures.
- Maintain sanitation and safety standards in the kitchen area. Monitors kitchen operations to ensure compliance with health and fire department regulations.
- Assists in completion of all back-of-house employee 30-day and annual reviews.
- Assist the management team with daily restaurant operations
- Providing excellent customer service for all guests during dining experience
- Participate in monthly inventory counts
- Work with the marketing team on promotions, events, etc.
- Meet goals set by Director of Operations, VP Marketing and VP Restaurant Operations
- Maintain positive attitude during stressful situations
