POSITION: Project Director – Transition Age Youth FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Exempt


STATUS: Full-time NORMAL WORKING HOURS: M-F; 9AM-5PM


SALARY: $75,000 (Grant Funded)



Position Summary:

Reporting to the Division Director of Family, Education & Community Engagement, the Project Director will be responsible for the oversight and management of the entire project. This includes providing strategic, technical, and programmatic leadership of the project under the general supervision of the Division Director of Family, Education and Community Engagement. The Project Director will be responsible for project implementation and program quality as well as personnel and financial management. This position has direct reports.



Position Responsibilities:

  • Monitor entire project, oversee finance, and ensure project fidelity.
  • Make strategic decisions and provide leadership and direction to staff members to implement those decisions.
  • Meet with clients, stakeholders, and project managers to report on project progress.
  • Provide oversight of program implementation including all activities, outputs, and outcomes.
  • Ensure the program is technically sound, evidence-based, and consistent with SAMHSA and stakeholders’ priorities.
  • Provide support to the Program Evaluator and Program Director of Education & Community Engagement.
  • Maintain and oversee inventories of all program equipment, materials, and supplies.
  • Understand and actively promote the grant project throughout the county, identifying efforts aimed at improving outcomes for youth and family members.


Mental, Physical, and Visual Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly required to sit, walk and stand; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to finger, handle, feel or operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; and lift up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus. The ability to drive is a requirement of the position.


While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly required to use written and oral communication skills; read and interpret data, information and documents; analyze and solve non-routine and complex problems; use math and mathematical reasoning; observe and interpret situations; learn and apply new information or skills; perform highly detailed work on multiple, concurrent tasks; work under intensive deadlines with frequent interruptions; and interact with the community stakeholders including elected and appointed officials, staff, people served, the public and others encountered in the course of work.


Working Conditions:

Normal office environment. Must be familiar with basic office equipment (e.g. computer, facsimile, copier, postage machines, etc.).

Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field with at least five or more years of experience working with transition-aged youth and young adults, including those who have or are at risk for a serious emotional disturbance (SED) or serious mental illness (SMI).
  • Experience managing, designing, implementing, and evaluating federal grants.
  • Strong project management skills managing complex, multifaceted projects resulting in measurable successes and program growth.
  • Proficient in using technology as a project management and reporting tool and experience working with IT staff to develop and implement program evaluation systems.
  • Ability to write technical reports and program documents and deliver presentations.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to communicate cross-culturally.
  • Working knowledge of case management database software.
  • Must be familiar with basic office equipment (e.g. computer, copier, printer, etc.).
  • Must be able to interact with community stakeholders, including elected and appointed officials, staff, people served, the public and others encountered in the course of work.
  • Should reside in Prince George’s County, MD and have previous working experience and familiarity with the service population.
