Job Title: Assistant Range Safety Officer

SUMMARY/ OBJECTIVE


The position of Assistant Range Safety Officer (RSO) is responsible for assisting the Chief Range Safety Officer in the day-to-day safety management of the ranges. The Assistant RSO shall primarily handle inspecting test equipment, training employees in the safe handling of firearms, and enforcing safety procedures, protocols, and Kimber policies within the ranges. The Assistant RSO will report to the Chief Range Safety Officer and support the manufacturing facility in the testing of firearms within the Ranges.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide range safety management in a manufacturing environment
  • Inspect test equipment daily
  • Train employees in the safe handling of firearms
  • Manage supply of test facility ammunition and supplies
  • Follow established test protocols, Kimber policies and procedures
  • Enforce all safety procedures, protocols, policies and procedures within the Ranges
  • Other duties as assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES


This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Cross functional team builder/player with high levels of professionalism, integrity, and enthusiasm
  • Ability to work alone or as a part of a team, without direct supervision
  • Experience using various computer systems
  • Knowledge of both rifle and pistol ammunition
  • Ability to work safely and make effective decisions concerning the safety of others using policies and procedures.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE


Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1 year of range safety training experience/ range safety officer
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • One or more of the certifications

Preferred:

  • 2 or more years of training experience/ range safety officer
  • HR 218 Certification

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS


One or more of the following:

  • FBI certified firearms instructor
  • Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) certified firearms instructor
  • NRA Certified Chief Range Safety Officer
  • NRA Certified Range Safety Officer

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS


This position may travel occasionally for training classes.

OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIES


Attendance is an essential job requirement defined as having regular, consistent, reliable, punctual and predictable attendance including the ability to work regular hours and shifts, overtime before and after shifts, weekends, and holidays may be required to meet customer demands. There may be little or no prior notice of overtime work. Ability to work as part of a team, including all related departments/plants or independently as required to achieve internal and external customer satisfaction.

While performing the duties of the job the employee works in a manufacturing environment and may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. This position needs to be able to work in various weather conditions (hot, cold, inside, outside) and in loud environments. This position will be exposed to firearms, ammunition, and other materials associated with normal range activities.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Able to lift 50 lbs. (Occasionally) and 15+ lbs. on a routine basis
  • Able to wear all associated PPE (protective vest, hearing protection, eye protection, etc.)

WORK AUTHORIZATION


This position requires compliance with ITAR requirement. Must be a “U.S. Person” (per ITAR 120.15) and are required to show proof substantiating this upon being hired.
