Description:

The Business Development Representative (BDR) focuses on identifying, targeting, and developing relationships with prospective customers. The BDR will generate new business opportunities, with the goal of laying the foundation for a future mutually beneficial, consultative relationship that enables Bailey Company to provide One Material Handling Solution, including new, used, rental, and allied material handling equipment, warehouse solutions (racking, guardrail, lift tables, etc.), and telematics solutions.


The role will include a blend of in-person customer visits and cold calls, online prospecting using tools like LinkedIn and market reports, virtual meetings and Teams calls, online lead management, as well as calls and texts to existing customers to gauge customer satisfaction. This is an entry-level sales role with a “hunting” focus that will provide great experience, sales / communication / organizational skills, and supply chain industry knowledge. This position will report to the Regional Sales Director.


a. Prospecting

  • Review industry market reports, new sources, customer data, and LinkedIn to identify prospective customers and key decision makers.
  • Generate warm sales leads via in-person cold calls, meetings, and virtual meetings / phone calls.
  • Proactively build and manage relationships with decision makers at all levels, including the executive level, of key accounts.
  • Manage sales leads as they come in, ensure they get to the right person, logged in CRM, and the customer gets contacted.


b. Account Management

  • Coordinate delivery and pickup of equipment from customers as needed.
  • Quote products and solutions when directed by Regional Sales Director.
  • Log detailed call reports about sales calls and customer updates in CRM.
  • Provide regular progress reports to Regional Sales Director.
  • Follow up with existing customers after a sale to conduct customer satisfaction surveys.


c. Teamwork

  • Participate in the Bailey Company’s safety, training, and environmental sustainability programs.
  • Handle other duties and special projects as assigned.

Requirements:

Education

  • College degree (required)

Experience

  • 1+ years of sales or consulting experience (preferred)

Skills and Abilities

  • Desire to pursue a career in sales and willingness to make cold calls.
  • Great written and verbal communication skills (position requires significant face to face time with both customers and fellow employees).
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer relations skills.
  • Proficient at Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.; willing and able to learn new technology.
  • Ability to learn technical product knowledge about equipment applications.

LICENSES REQUIRED:

  • Driver’s license
