Successful candidates will have a demonstrated ability to participate proactively in the proposal development process as a writer/editor working with capture and proposal teams and working side-by-side with subject matter experts to craft winning proposals.

Duties include proposal technical/professional writing and editing of proposal content in collaboration with internal subject matter experts, capture and proposal process support, team collaboration in preparation of bid submission documents, networking across the company and our partners for sources of past performance, capability and solution elements relevant to a given RFP/customer requirement.

  • Assist in establishing and maintaining style guidelines and standards for texts and illustrations to address tables of contents, headers/footers, figures, tables and page numbering per proposal requirements and company standards.
  • Work on multiple proposal efforts concurrently ranging from large strategic proposals to small, rapid response task orders and quick-turn opportunities.
  • Outstanding oral and written communications skills, flexibility, agility, ability to take on and lead assignments with contributions of others including very senior personnel.
  • Oversees editing of publications and communication pieces to ensure appropriateness, accuracy and adherence to standard guidelines.
  • Edits highly complex documents by reviewing content for completeness, accuracy and correctness of language uses; revises documents to meet predetermined standards of style and accuracy.
  • Reviews documents for inconsistencies of thought, development or organization and makes complex recommendations for corrections or corrects as appropriate; confers with authors to recommend treatment of material; may develop additional materials or advise authors of other avenues or items to incorporate.
  • Reorganizes, eliminates or rewrites various types of documents as appropriate to ensure consistency of thought and organization.
  • Tracks and monitors flow of documents from inception to distribution of final copies; coordinates with the proposal manager for quality assurance checks for document deliverables.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, English, Communication, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.
  • Must have two or more years of editorial/writing experience
  • Experience working with editing practices, principles, and procedures
  • Experience working with industry writing style such as grammar, sentence form, and structure
  • Proficiency in using documentation tools and software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work independently and in a team, managing multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Proven ability to create clear, concise, and engaging technical writing.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong understanding of the user experience and how to write for different audiences.
  • Experience with SharePoint (preferred).
