JOB PURPOSE

The Class A CDL Driver operates semi-truck and trailer to transport feed to farm facility locations, animals from facility to facility or to the plant or market under the direction of the Dispatcher / Supervisor. The Class A CDL Driver adheres to all company and Department of Transportation safety rules and regulations. The Class A CDL Driver also observes state and city speed and safety regulations and company customer service and safety policies.

RESPONSIBILITIES TASKS

  • Perform job assignments as determined by Supervisor (Dispatcher).
  • Accurate paperwork is required.
  • Drives truck with trailer to destination, loads/unloads trailers with and without assistance.
  • Meet all DOT requirements, including random alcohol/drug-testing program.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with customers such as farm and plant employees.
  • Comply with all Processes, Procedures and Policies, following Bio-Security flow.
  • Instruct and direct driver trainees as assigned.
  • Makes preventive maintenance check and inspection of assigned equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, fuel, oil and water, reports findings to supervisor and takes appropriate action.
  • Reports accidents immediately to dispatcher, requesting police or ambulance service as needed.

PAY RATE:

Hourly: $24.00

Pay is based on years of experience.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Class A CDL License
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
  • Six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or combination of education and experience
  • Clear motor vehicle record (MVR)


PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
