PCSI is looking for an Assistant Executive Housekeeper to join our team at the Augusta Military Medical Center on Fort Belvoir. This role supports the Executive Housekeeper with planning operations of this environmental services contract and ensuring customer satisfaction. The Assistant Executive Housekeeper is responsible for assigning and organizing tasks and ensuring that the work is completed within budget and in compliance with contract requirements. This position also plays an essential part in guiding the Housekeeping Supervisors in effective leadership and oversight of frontline staff.

We are looking for a candidate who is eligible to become a Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Professional (CHESP) within 6 months of starting; training, exam, and certification fees to be covered. Typical hours are Monday-Friday, 1:30pm-10:30pm, but may need to be available weekends as needed.

Benefits Include:

  • Base pay of up to $73,000, depending upon experience.
  • Annual bonus of up to 8%.
  • 21 days of PTO per year, in addition to all federal holidays.

What You'll Do as Assistant Executive Housekeeper:

  • Supervises the night / evening housekeeping staff, including the shift supervisors, and hourly employees. Plans and organizes workloads and staff assignments; trains, motivates and evaluates assigned staff; and reviews progress and directs changes as needed.
  • Provides leadership and direction in the development of short- and long-range plans for the evening / night housekeeping staff. Coordinates department activities with other departments and agencies as needed.
  • Provides technical support to supervisors and subordinates. Makes presentations to housekeeping and government staff. Communicates official plans, policies and procedure changes to the evening / night staff as needed.
  • Assures that assigned areas of responsibilities are performed within budget. Assures effective and efficient use of budgeted funds, personnel, materials and time maintained.
  • Provides ISO leadership in conducting tasks required to achieve adherence to PCSI's Quality Manual and Quality goals. Maintains and promotes CIMS and ISO compliance programs and follows and directs all employees in the use of CIMS.
  • Ensures customer satisfaction and deliverance of the highest quality service possible for our customers.
  • Supports the Executive Housekeeper in resolving customer and performance concerns.
  • Maintains industry best practices at all times.
  • Conducts productivity rate studies to ensure maximum and balance workforce output.

What You'll Need to Be Successful:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience as assistant director over environmental services/housekeeping, or equivalent responsibilities, in a hospital or other medical setting.
  • Minimum of five (5) years prior management experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certified through the American Healthcare Environment as a Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Professional (CHESP), or ability to obtain CHESP certification within 6 months of starting.
  • Registered member of International Executive Housekeepers Association (IEHA) preferred.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of Excel and bed tracking systems. Must be able to develop trends reports for monthly staff meetings.
  • Willingness to delegate authority when needed.
  • Ability and willingness to exert disciplinary action as needed.
  • Ability to interpret policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Ability to set and manage priorities.
  • Ability to communicate both orally and in written format.
  • Ability to work as a team member.
  • Self-starter, able to work with minimal direction and supervision.
  • Operation of windows applications, MS Word, MS Excel, Etc., and related applications.


Other Requirements:

  • Ability to pass criminal, drug, and driving screening.
  • Ability to work any time or day of the week, including weekends and holidays.
  • Possess valid driver's license and maintain good driving record.
  • If required, ability to obtain and maintain security clearance and base access to assigned site(s).
