Job Description:

We are currently seeking a Temporary Academic Advisor for a three-month engagement at a client site in Prince George's County, Maryland.  The selected candidate will provide support on by managing academic activities, communications, and timelines for student and faculty members.  All applicants must possess a master's degree and at least five years of experience as an advisor within an educational institution.  

Responsibilities:

• Provide academic advising to students following established policies and procedures.
• Assist students in course selection, degree planning, and goal setting to ensure timely progress toward graduation.
• Serve as a student resource, addressing inquiries related to academic programs, policies, and procedures.
• Collaborate with faculty and staff to support student success initiatives and retention efforts.
• Maintain accurate student records and documentation of advising interactions.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Minimum of two (5) years of prior employment in higher education or teaching K-12.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Training will be provided on advising skills and competencies with expected delivery outcomes.

Minimum Training and Experience:

• Masters degree required.
• Computer experience with Microsoft Office Suite, virtual platforms, and familiarity with student information systems.
• Must clear a criminal background check before onboarding.
• Conditions of Employment:
• Duties will require individuals to occasionally work some evenings and weekends.
