Were seeking a dynamic and experienced Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to join High Point Medical Center, a premier healthcare facility located in High Point, North Carolina. As a key member of the executive leadership team, the CMO will play a pivotal role in providing strategic direction and oversight to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care and clinical services.

Qualifications:

  • Medical Doctorate from accredited university with ten years of progressive leadership experience up to and including executive level involving hospital operations, management, quality, and patient safety preferably in academic medical center setting.

Licensure, Certification and/or Registration:

  • Current North Carolina MD/DO licensure in good standing
  • Board Certification in respective specialty
  • Preference is given to hospital-based medical specialties training. Full-time equivalent (FTE) is determined by a percentage combining clinical activity in the respective field. Non-faculty appointment is initially offered but may be considered for a faculty appointment based on scholarly work, independent of the process, and faculty academic credentials.

  • Expertise in medical knowledge, leadership, strategic vision, regulatory compliance, quality improvement, change management, and financial acumen.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. In collaboration with clinical department chairs, HPMC CNO and COO and administrative partners, provide leadership for clinical excellence in quality, safety and patient-centered care.
  2. Build and lead inclusive and diverse teams that show steady improvements in clinical outcomes and service excellence across the health system to include HPMC and associated ASCs, and regional network and faculty ambulatory clinics.
  3. Work with senior executive leadership to facilitate operational aspects of the hospital, ASCs, and ambulatory clinics with an emphasis on performance improvement, productivity, delivery of quality care and practice integration.
  4. Model and ensure a strong commitment to improving patient satisfaction through high quality of care, coordination of care throughout the system, and continuous quality improvement.
  5. Establish and monitor key performance metrics and address patient communication and staff and physician quality and patient satisfaction performance concerns.
  6. Improve physician-to-physician communication and improve all lines of communication between medical staff and administration. Continue to build a collaborative, inclusive, trusting spirit with medical staff and administration, through improved communication, engagement and commitment of the physician team.
  7. Lead the development of clinical quality and patient safety initiatives in alignment with enterprise initiatives. Represent the facility in market and regional quality and safety work. Establish and monitor key performance metrics around quality and patient safety.
  8. Serve on the HPMC Senior Leadership Team. Service includes attendance at weekly Senior Leadership Team meetings, Strategic Workforce Planning meetings, HPMC Board meetings, Board Quality meetings, and other meetings or duties as assigned by the President of HPMC.
  9. Set the agenda and lead the Chief of Staff meetings, Medical Executive Committee meetings, Professional Improvement Committee meetings, Medical Director meetings, Clinical Quality meetings, and Biannual Medical Staff meetings. 
  10. Serve as a liaison with outside organizations regarding marketing, consumer affairs, public relations and community support.
  11. Perform other mission critical leadership duties as assigned.
