Methodist Home for Children, headquartered in Raleigh, is a 501(c)(3) that works to ensure safe, nurturing homes for children while working to eradicate the social and family problems that lead to abuse, neglect, family disruption and abandonment. We provide community-based services for children and families throughout North Carolina. We partner with public agencies to serve children in crisis and we raise private funds to ensure that we can deliver the best in evidence-based services.

We are seeking Direct Support Staff for our Winton, NC multipurpose home.

Pay is $31,000+ annually, depending on education and experience.

FIRST THINGS FIRST... WHAT IS A MULTIPURPOSE HOME?

Multipurpose homes are residential facilities for youth. Residency in our multipurpose homes has been proven to interrupt lifetime criminal behavior for Level II repeat juvenile offenders. MHC staff live and work in each home, serving 10 judicial districts, and implement a model of care that teaches teens to change problem behaviors and attitudes, expand their skills and recover from setbacks and mistakes.

WHAT DO DIRECT SUPPORT STAFF DO?

The primary responsibility of Direct Support Staff is to provide program services to intervene with adolescents being served in a residential group home. The position's job responsibilities include implementing direct treatment services through use of the agency's model of care, providing residential care services, and working with adolescents, families, volunteers, and community representatives in the youth home and community settings.

ARE YOU QUALIFIED?

  • Must be twenty-one (21) years of age;
  • Minimum of a High School Diploma and experience working with client population.
  • Must maintain a valid Driver's License and an acceptable driving record.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended periods of time.

Benefit are available after 90 days of employment:

Paid Holidays: MHC gives full-time employees paid holidays each year.

Vacation Leave: First partial calendar year of hire is pro-rated at 10 days (80 hours) per year

Sick Leave: Paid sick leave is accumulated at 12 days (96 hours) per calendar year. All unused sick leave will carry over into the next calendar year.

Health Benefits: Employees may choose between the Cigna HealthCare Medical Base HSA Plan or Medical Buy-Up HSA Plan. Dental and Vision plans are also available.

Health Care Flex Plan: Employees can utilize the optional Health Care Flexible Spending Account (HSA) tax-free reimbursement program for out-of-pocket medical, dental, and vision expenses for themselves and their dependents.

Dependent Care Flex Plan: Employees can utilize the optional Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account (FSA) tax-free reimbursement program for their eligible dependent care expenses.

Life Insurance: Term life insurance is provided by MHC for full-time staff in the amount of 1x the employee’s annual salary. Supplemental life insurance is available for individual or family coverage.

Workers’ Compensation: This agency-paid benefit covers on-the-job injury.

403B Plan: Employees can contribute to a tax-deferred annuity plan; MHC matches a portion of the contributed funds.

Credit Union: All employees are offered membership to the Coastal Credit Union (CCU).
