WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
The Plant Manager is responsible for overseeing all daily operations of the plant(s), ensuring quality, production, customer service, safety, and people objectives are achieved. 
  • Plans, organizes, directs, and runs day-to-day operations of originating, processing, and packaging commercial edible dry beans as well as certified seed to exceed our customers’ expectations.
  • Partners with Accounting and Operations VP to manage plant annual budget and monthly evaluation of actual budget performance. 
  • Partners with SQF Management on the implementation of food safety program and food safety certifications as required by corporate and customer expectations.
  • Develops plans and expectations to meet our customer goal of 100% order fulfillment.  
  • Establishes grower relations objectives to originate the viable edible and seed bean acres that are required to support the business.
  • Supports and leads worker safety programs by setting the example for a safe work environment.
  • Implement strategies in alignment with strategic initiatives and provide a clear sense of direction and focus to the plant leadership team.
  • Fosters culture of trust, value, and safety in combination with TBC’s core values. 
  • Partners with HR and/or other leadership on employee development, engagement, recruiting, retaining, and relationship strategies.
  • Partners with HR to communicate, administer, and enforce company rules, policies, and procedures consistently and equitably.
  • Trains, coaches, plans, assigns, delegates, and directs employee work.
  • Develops and manages processes that will maximize safety, teamwork, quality, and productivity.
  • Improves working conditions/processes (safety, quality, productivity, cost).
  • Manages inventory including monthly cycle counts, elimination/reduction of shrink, reconciliation, and reporting to corporate accounting/finance.
  • Manages scheduling and forecasting of production.
  • Tracks and evaluates production for efficiencies and improvements to achieve optimum operations.
  • Stays up to date with latest production management best practices and concepts.
  • Fosters a high level of collaboration with other departments and plants, including Maintenance, Quality, Human Resources, Accounting/Finance, Scheduling, Transportation, Field Reps, and Customer Service to share best practices and ensure open dialog.  
  • Ensures plant complies with all OSHA, USDA, FDA, and EPA policies and provides support for all programs such as BRC & SQF, HAACP, GMP, and all other related Food Safety programs.
  • Performs regular “walk-arounds” of plant facilities. 
  • Assists in community and industry involvement.

WHAT WE NEED
MUST-HAVES:
 
Required education and experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of operations management experience having managed an organization using the principles of budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation, and human resources.
Knowledge, Ability and Skills. 
  • Fiscal responsibility and financial acumen.
  • Experience and ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to proactively develop and implement programs designed to enhance plant operations, create organizational efficiency, and to promote safety.
  • Ability to create accountability, work collaboratively, and to lead by example.
  • Knowledge and experience in complying with OSHA, GMP, USDA, Food Safety, and HAACP requirements.
  • Strong team building, decision-making, and people management skills.
  • Superior organizational skills with the ability to look ahead and anticipate problems.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Must display positive attitude.
  • Ability to handle stress of deadlines and constantly changing priorities.
  • Familiarity with industry standard equipment and have a technical/mechanical aptitude.
  • Strong computer/technical skills.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule as seasonality of business demands.
Travel required.

WORK CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT
  • Frequently required to: use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls, sit; to verbally communicate; and to hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Occasionally required to stand and/or walk, use ladders, climb stairs, bend and stoop, reach, push/pull, kneel and crouch. Must occasionally lift, carry and/or move up to 50 pounds, without assistance. 
  • Frequently exposed to moving machinery/mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, wet and/or humid conditions, fumes, or airborne particles/dust. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. 
  • Protective equipment, such as hearing protection, safety glasses, hair net and food safety related items, is required.
