Position Overview:
The Arc is seeking a part-time Development Assistant. Reporting to the Chief of Business & Resource Development, you will be an integral part of the Development team and work closely with the Chief to provide support for a multi-faceted fundraising program in a fast-paced environment. You will be responsible for handling Donor Perfect database entry, reporting, and donor analytics; serving as the first point of contact for donor inquiries; and liaising with the Executive and Finance teams on administrative matters, among other activities.
This position is ideal for a well-organized, detail-oriented professional who is either beginning a career or is an experienced administrative support professional in nonprofit fundraising who is committed to advancing the health and welfare of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
What You’ll Be Doing Day-to-Day:
- Serve as the Development team’s primary point of contact for donor and internal staff inquiries; deftly handle or elevate questions as appropriate.
- Accurately record donations and payments received by the Development team from other departments and online giving platform in the database.
- Handle registrations, including financial aspects, for special events.
- Lead and/or provide support for acquiring event-related items.
- Generate reports for Cheif of Business & Resource Development, Chief Financial Officer, and Executive Director.
- Coordinate and manage the guest registrations and payments for special events
- Produce annual tax acknowledgment letters.
- Perform scheduled and ad hoc database activities, including report generation, data audits, and data entry.
- Compile attachments for grant proposals and send them; maintain grant tracking platform.
- Edit mailing elements.
- Create lists for (8 annual) mailings, namely Annual Report Mailing, Valentine’s Day Mailing, Spring/Summer Appeal, Membership Mailing, End of Calendar Year Appeal, events-related mailings, special year-end smaller targeted gift mailing.
- Organize mailing logistics—determine appropriate postage at the post office, create labels, acquire postage, liaise with and organize volunteers, and deliver mail to the post office.
- Learn bulk mailing process and institute, filling out appropriate paperwork accurately and delivering mail items.
- Provide a list of donors to be thanked and/or solicited.
- Attend webinars & training to increase knowledge of database reporting processes and explore the full capabilities of databases.
- Adjust the gift interface page of the website to reflect upcoming events.
- Perform prospect research, as needed.
- Provide daily administrative support to the Director of Business & Resource Development.
- Provide administrative support to membership and outreach activities, as required
- Maintain current documentation for the position’s processes and procedures, especially for producing donor reports.
- Create monthly expense reports to reconcile postage, office supply, and other expenses.

Requirements:You Are the Ideal Candidate, If You Have:
- A bachelor’s degree or relevant experience.
- Prior experience with Donor Perfect preferred, or other customer relationship management databases.
- Demonstrated commitment to precision and detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Outstanding interpersonal and customer service skills, with an emphasis on timeliness; keen eye for inaccuracies in communications.
- Prior experience in a development department or scheduling for a senior professional is a plus.
- Commitment to The Arc Prince George's County's mission and a broad progressive agenda.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Demonstrated flexibility and eagerness to learn.
- Ability to work remotely and occasionally work evenings and weekends as needed.

- Ability to take initiative, work independently, and work as a member of a team.
