We are seeking a Senior Fire Protection Engineer to join our dynamic team in Fairfax, VA. As a Senior Fire Protection Engineer at WRA, you will be a key player in the design and implementation of fire protection systems for various building and infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in fire protection engineering, a strong knowledge of industry standards, and a passion for delivering safe and efficient solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the design and evaluation of fire protection systems for projects of varying complexity, including new construction and renovations.
  • Develop fire protection engineering concepts, plans, and specifications, ensuring compliance with local and national codes and standards.
  • Collaborate with architects, mechanical and electrical engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate fire protection measures seamlessly into project designs.
  • Conduct fire hazard analyses, risk assessments, and performance-based design evaluations.
  • Review and approve fire protection system shop drawings and submittals.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to junior fire protection engineering staff.
  • Participate in site visits, inspections, and commissioning activities to ensure proper installation and functionality of fire protection systems.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on fire protection matters, including code interpretations and compliance.
  • Interact with clients, regulatory agencies, and project teams to address fire protection-related inquiries and requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering or a related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Fire Protection Engineering.
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in fire protection engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of fire codes and standards (NFPA, IBC, etc.).
  • Proficiency in fire modeling and analysis software.
  • Experience with hydraulic calculations and fire suppression system design.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • US citizenship is required.
