Trident Systems is seeking a Lead Hardware Engineer to lead hardware development efforts on programs within the Space Electronics Systems (SES) division. The successful candidate will possess strong technical expertise in hardware design and strong leadership skills.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Lead small teams in design, implementation, and testing of mixed-signal Printed Circuit Board (PCB) and Printed Circuit Assembly (PCA), utilizing High Density Interconnect (HDI) and high-speed (> 1 GHz) components/circuits

o Schematic capture

o PCB layout and routing

o PCA integration, test, and debug

• Create and monitor project schedules and budgets for hardware development efforts

• Support interfacing disciplines such as mechanical, software, firmware, and project management

• Follow an established hardware engineering design process to achieve quality designs

• Interface with customers as the hardware engineering representative on the program

Education/Certification: Bachelor or Masters of Science degree in electrical or computer engineering

Years of Experience: 7+ years of experience in hardware design; 1+ years in team leadership roles

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout using Altium design tools within IPC standards

• Ability to implement designs within budget and schedule requirements

• Experience in the hardware development process including requirements specification, characterization, simulation, high-speed digital design, signal processing, schematic capture, layout, routing, testing, and integration

• Demonstrated mixed-signal PCA development experience from concept to delivery utilizing High Density Interconnect (HDI) PCBs and high-speed (> 1 GHz) components and circuits

• Experience with circuit simulation and circuit analysis using PSpice, LTspice, or similar

• Experience with hardware integration, test, and debug tools (digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, emulators)

• Experience with hardware engineering processes and standards

• Experience with product configuration management systems

• Proven communication/interpersonal skills and ability to be a strong team player

Desired:

• Experience with Xilinx family devices, including Zynq UltraScale+ or Versal architecture

• Knowledge of VPX standards (VITA 46 and VITA 65) and demonstrated experience implementing in embedded hardware designs

• Experience with design for extremely demanding/rugged environments (e.g., high temp, shock/vibe, etc.)

• Experience with signal integrity tools/techniques using Keysight ADS or similar

• Experience with power integrity tools/techniques using Keysight ADS or similar

• Previous Cost Account Management (CAM) experience
