We are looking for a fun, energetic person who loves working with preschoolers to join our team!

Schedule: Full time (Monday through Friday)

Pay: $13 - $16 per hour, depending on experience

Duties and Responsibilities

The primary job duties and responsibilities for the Lead Teacher include but are not limited to the following:

Teaching

  1. Plan and implement with both long- and short-range activities in accordance with curriculum objectives, developmentally appropriate curriculum and program philosophy.
  2. Treat children with compassion, dignity, respect and guide them by:
    1. Keeping rules simple and easy to understand
    2. Talking with children- not at them
    3. Set a good example
    4. Teaching children how to correct their misbehavior
    5. Teaching children, it is kay to make mistakes
    6. Teaching children how to resolve conflict and how to apologize
    7. Catching children being good and give them praise to build them
    8. Give them clear and simple choices
  3. Maintain daily open communication with parents in a professional and effective manner.
  4. Shows ability to lead the direction of the program and prioritize multiple tasks and meets deadlines as they arrive.
  5. Willingness to support management, DHS and QRS with best practice standards in individual classroom and throughout the center.
  6. Follows all Little Endeavors policies.
  7. Keep all appropriate records such as attendance, daily sheets, emergency contacts, sunscreen forms, permission slips and incident reports.
  8. Maintain daily open communication with parents, verbally, daily sheets, Facebook and newsletters.
  9. Have plans prepared and be well organized for assistant teachers in the classroom when you are gone.

Responsibilities to Co-Workers

  1. Encourage assistant teachers to contribute to lesson planning.
  2. Mentor assistants so they can step in as lead when you are gone.
  3. Maintain communication with morning and afternoon staff.
  4. Maintain communication with the director.
  5. Approaches criticism with learning attitude.
  6. Come to work with a positive attitude.
  7. Is friendly and respectful.
  8. Looks for ways to be helpful around the center.
  9. Shares ideas and materials.
  10. Communicates directly, avoids gossip.

Responsibilities to Administration

  1. Reliable in attendance
    • On-time
    • Gives ample notice for absence
  2. Careful and conscientious in performance of duties; including the use of positive words and actions towards children, parents, and staff
  3. Be nurturing to all children throughout the center.
  4. Be courteous and helpful when dealing with children and their parents
  5. Responsible in job duties
  6. Flexible with assignments
  7. Flexible with schedules
  8. Remains calm in tense situations
  9. Maintains a positive attitude
  10. Follows policies and procedures

*Completes and DHS requirements on trainings, background checks, and physical in a timely manner after being hired and updated annually.
