Utility Service Worker Crew Leader/Equipment Operator

The City of Corona has an exciting opportunity to join our Utilities Department as an Utility Service Worker Crew Leader/Equipment Operator. We provide a 4/10 work schedule (Mon-Thu) for most positions and rotating schedules for operations staff. • Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade.
• Four years of advanced journey-level experience in utility or public works related maintenance, and construction work.
  

• The employee holding this position is the designated heavy equipment operator.
• Perform skilled journeyman level tasks in the maintenance, construction, and repair of water distribution, reclaim water distribution, and wastewater collection facilities.
• Plan, organize, and coordinate the work of assigned staff.
• Perform heavy manual work under varying weather conditions.
• Apply rules, regulations, procedures, and policies to daily work assignments.
• Observe, analyze, interpret situations, recommend, or adopt effective courses of action.

• Possession of a valid California Class "A" Driver's License, to be maintained throughout employment.
• Possession of a valid Grade D3 Water Distribution Operator's Certificate, to be maintained throughout employment.
• Ability to work extended hours and rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to work under emergency conditions day or night and be willing to work when called any time during a 24-hour period.
• Shall be required to go on 'After Hours' standby rotation as the second responder or first responder when required.

The selection process will consist of a review and evaluation of all applicants' qualifications. Those applicants deemed to possess the most desirable qualifications will be invited to participate in a virtual interview through the HireVue platform. The top scoring candidates from the virtual HireVue interview will be invited for in person oral interviews tentatively scheduled to take place on April 11, 2024.
