The City of Worcester seeks qualified applicants for seasonal Pro-Shop Staff to work for the Department of Public Works & Parks at the Green Hill Golf Course. Under the direction of the Director of Golf, the position will be responsible for opening and closing of clubhouse during operational hours, monitoring play utilizing point of sale (POS) and Tee sheet, record sales, operate minor food and beverage, stock shelves, and sell merchandise. This position is part-time seasonal, anticipated as 20 - 30 hours per week from April through November.

ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS:

• Provide customer service via phone and make reservations for customers and members
• Perform retail operations such as: sell, monitor, inventory, and stock merchandise
• Monitor driving range activities
• Ensure players and order of play are run efficiently and on time
• Apply appropriate fee structures, POS operations, Tee Time booking and monitoring practices
• Monitor driving range, which includes troubleshooting range ball dispensing machine
• Ensure range baskets are available and occasionally picking range balls as needed
• Assist in the operation of golf outings and tournaments
• Perform open and close Pro Shop operations including cash register procedures

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Strong customer Service skills
• Strong verbal communications and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work well with the public/patrons
• Ability to operate POS software system.
• Ability to work a variety of shifts, mornings 6:00 AM, Midday, and closing shifts, until 6:00 PM.
• Ability to work weekends and holidays

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to lift 20lbs to shoulder height
• Must be 16 years of age or older

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Prior customer service experience
• Knowledge and understanding of the principles of Golf
• Flexible schedule with availability to work in early spring and late fall time frames

SALARY: $15.00 hourly, temporary, non-benefitted
