Job Summary

The primary responsibilities of this position are to ensure fabricated products are inspected, tracked, and documented in accordance with Code and customer requirements as directed by the Supplier and Fabrication Quality Manager.

Essential Functions
  • Actively supports the Company's commitment to safety and its "Core Values."
  • Represents the Company at all times with high moral standards while adhering to the Company's "Code of Business Conduct and Ethics."
  • Accepts responsibility to abide by, support, and enforce all Matrix Service safety policies and procedures.
  • Manages and performs quality inspections and tests, as required to meet schedule.
  • Supervises Quality Inspectors and Technical Documents Coordinator.
  • Achieves and maintains familiarity with the structure and requirements of Matrix Quality Systems for API 620 & 650, ASME Section VIII and IX, AWWA D100, and AISC Bridge and Building, Project Quality Plans, IMS, as well as applicable Issued for Construction Drawings through personal investigation and study.
  • Performs daily duties relating to maintenance of the ASME and AISC quality programs.
  • Utilizes ERP system to schedule quality control activities.
  • Reviews quality documentation packages and assists in revolving documentation and inspection issues prior to shipment.
  • Maintains calibration of equipment and qualifications of NDE personnel.
  • Provides direction to Quality Inspectors, including issue resolution, prioritization of activities, and communication with production personnel to ensure timely completion.
  • Maintains NCR log and associated activities to provide accurate data management.
  • Relies on experience, interpersonal skills, and knowledge of fabrication to ensure task completion is in compliance with policies, procedures, and business strategy.
  • Maintains presence on shop floor and addresses quality and safety issues.
  • Performs audits and training for the various procedures and quality systems.
  • Oversees welder qualifications and NDE personnel competency testing and produces the required documentation of those activities.
  • Performs other duties, as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.
  • 5+ years related experience in QA/QC management.
  • Current certification in a related discipline specific inspection process (e.g. AWS CWI, ASNT Level II, NACE etc.).
  • AWS CRI - Certified Radiographic Interpreter preferred.
  • Competent with Microsoft Office programs.
  • Thorough working knowledge of regulatory agency quality assurance and quality control activities.
  • Experience must have been on similar facilities under construction.
  • Proven ability to supervise personnel and strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills required.
  • Advance degree or training is desirable.
Physical & Duty Specific Requirements:
  • Must be willing to work frequent overtime.
  • Must be able and willing to work at elevated heights from ladders, scaffolding, aerial work platforms, etc.
  • Must be able to life and carry as much as 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to perform tasks in hot and cold temperatures.
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces.
  • Work will require frequent bending, kneeling, crouching, and stooping and occasional climbing onto equipment and/or trailers.
  • Work will require standing and/or walking for extended periods of time (as much as 10 hours per day).
