Sales Associate at Baked by Yael

We are seeking a Sales Associate to work in our bakery in Northwest DC, founded by a recovering attorney who left her law firm job to pursue her passion for baking and business. Baked by Yael is located directly across from the National Zoo. We are a nut-free & kosher bakery and our baked goods are also kosher. We have gluten-free and vegan treats, too!

We're looking for someone with sales and/or retail experience, though it doesn't have to be related to food service. You must be comfortable interacting with customers in-person, by phone, and over email. Attention to detail is critical, as you will be helping to put together customer orders.

We're also looking for someone who will fit in with our diverse and hardworking team. Most of our team has been with Baked by Yael since the beginning of the pandemic. They understand what's at stake and they've worked hard to ensure Baked by Yael has been able to keep its doors open.

The ideal candidate is:

- available to work year-round (this is not a seasonal job);

- trustworthy

- friendly, energetic, and has a positive attitude (both with customers and coworkers);

- focused;

- mature;

- comfortable in a work environment that can be very fast-paced at times;

- a fast learner;

- able to lift at least 50 lbs;

- able to stand for the entire shift; and

- comfortable with frequent task changes (over the course of one shift, you will be asked to wait on customers, make sandwiches, put together online/shipping orders, and perform opening or closing tasks).

Including tips, hourly wages could total up to $20/hour.
