Central Operations - Cafe Cashier

The Café Cashiers process orders and collect payments from customers in a fast food restaurant. Their chief duties include greeting customers, responding to inquiries, and maintaining public areas. The Cashier will use cash registers, electronic scanners, and related equipment to conduct monetary transactions with customers.

Duties and responsibilities (Essential Functions)

The following items describe some of the ways this individual will accomplish this task:

• Greets customers as they enter the café.
• Accepts money in the form of cash, checks, and credit or debit cards for items purchased; validates checks.
• Assists customers with questions or price discrepancies.
• Ensures accurate transactions by balancing cash register at the beginning and end of shift, and sales at the end of shift.
• Processes returns and exchanges according to policy.
• Identifies prices of products and services and tabulates bills with available equipment.
• Assists customers in locating various products, resolving complaints, or providing information.
• Other duties as assigned by the Executive Chef.

Qualifications

1. High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
2. Successful completion of on-the-job training.
3. Excellent customer service skills.
4. Good verbal communication skills.
5. Ability to operate available equipment, such as cash registers, calculators, or scanners.
6. Basic mathematical skills, as needed to make change and give refunds.
7. Knowledgeable about café’s products and services, and customer-related policies
