Salary:

Geeks and Nerds is seeking a mid-level to upper-level candidate in support of the Systems Simulation, Software and Integration (S3I). The chosen candidate will be tasked with overseeing and coordinating the daily tasks associated with the Indicium Lab and all of its personnel, hardware, software, and security standards. The candidate will plan and implement laboratory policies, perform hardware integration tasks, introduce new capabilities, and assist lab users with troubleshooting. The candidate should have the ability to perform equipment integration and maintenance, have a strong understanding of computer networking, a strong understanding of system administration, a strong understanding of computer hardware components, and a strong understanding of DoD Security practices. The candidate will also be responsible for validating and maintaining Configuration Management documentation in support of Risk Management Framework (RMF) certification and accreditation activities. The candidate should have prior experience working in a DoD laboratory environment, have sound judgment, and be able operate with minimal supervision. The candidate will conduct daily duties at Systems Simulation, Software and Integration (S3I), Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL. 


Duties and Responsibilities


  • Responsible for developing and applying advanced techniques in the investigation and solution of advanced system requirements and problems
  • Plans, conducts and technically directs projects or major phases of significant projects
  • Coordinates efforts of technical support staff in the performance of assigned projects
  • Conducts technical investigations and tests of considerable complexity
  • Reviews completion and implementation of system additions and/or enhancements and makes recommendations to management
  • Evaluate vendor capabilities to provide required products or services
  • Provide technical consultation to other Indicium PO teams
  • Provide work leadership to system administrators and network engineering lab personnel.
  • Identify system engineering requirements from customer goals and objectives


Required Skills


  • Ability to work with little or no direct supervision
  • Strong Systems Engineering principles and troubleshooting experience
  • Strong Information Technology (IT) principles and troubleshooting experience
  • Strong DoD Security practice and implementation knowledge
  • Bachelor Degree in Information Technology or equivalent experience
  • Ability to obtain certifications (Security+ and either a Microsoft OS or Cisco certification) within 6 months of hire
  • Minimum Secret Security Clearance


Preferred (not required) Skills


  • Current Microsoft OS or Cisco Certifications
  • Understanding of Network, System Integration and Test Environment (NSITE) software
  • Functional understanding of tactical interoperability equipment to include Air Defense Systems Integrator (ADSI), Link Monitoring and Management Tool (LMMT), Joint Range Extension (JRE), and C2BMC systems and their use in a Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS) environment.
  • Familiarity with operating and maintaining a Microsoft Domain
  • Understanding of common tactical data link (TADIL) messages and message interactions
