Hay Creek Hotels invites passionate, professional, and dynamic individuals to apply for the position of Restaurant Manager at Hearth Restaurant, located within the newly opening Hotel Embers. Assist the Hearth General Manager to hire, develop and lead a well-rounded, knowledgeable front-of-house team that delivers innovative, high-quality cocktails and a memorable dining experience for all guests.

Nestled in the serene mountain town of Blowing Rock, North Carolina, The Hotel Embers is poised to redefine boutique hospitality with its 36 guest rooms and suites, full-service restaurant, and charming alfresco dining patio.

As a member of the Hay Creek Hotels family, Hearth Restaurant is dedicated to providing a cozy, fireside dining experience complemented by 4-star service in an inviting, natural setting. The hotel and restaurant are scheduled to open their doors in early spring 2024.

Full-time position able to work primarily breakfast and lunch shifts including weekdays, weekends and holidays. Evening shifts may also be necessary to provide management coverage for our restaurant.

Job Summary:

The Restaurant Manager plays a crucial role in the success of Hearth Restaurant by overseeing daily operations, ensuring exceptional guest experiences, and leading our team with integrity, enthusiasm, and professionalism.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Team Leadership and Development: Supervise the Front of House F&B staff during shifts, providing guidance, support, and direct hands-on training to ensure excellence in service and operations. Foster a positive, collaborative work environment.
  • Operational Excellence: Oversee and manage comp and void privileges for the F&B team, ensuring accurate transaction processing and adherence to company policies.
  • Guest Engagement: Utilize strong customer service skills to interact with guests in a friendly and professional manner. Be knowledgeable about menu items, promotions, hotel offerings, and ensure this information is communicated effectively to guests.
  • Menu Knowledge: Have a thorough understanding of food, wine, and spirit offerings, including classic cocktails, to provide detailed information and recommendations to customers.
  • Service Coordination: Work closely with kitchen and bar staff to guarantee timely and precise delivery of food and beverage services to guests, maintaining the highest standards of quality and presentation.
  • Compliance and Cleanliness: Ensure strict adherence to food and alcohol service standards and regulations. Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work environment, completing side work and equipment maintenance as required.
  • Financial Integrity: Handle guest payments, process transactions accurately, and perform end-of-shift cash reconciliation and deposits. Utilize the Point of Sale system for all transactions.
  • Project and Task Management: Undertake additional responsibilities, projects, and tasks as assigned by the Restaurant General Manager, contributing to the restaurant's overall success.
  • Experience and Education: Proven experience in a supervisory or management role within a restaurant or hospitality setting. A degree in hospitality, business management, or a related field is preferred but not required.
  • Skills: Excellent leadership, communication, and customer service skills. Strong organizational abilities and a keen eye for detail.
  • Personality: A team player with a positive attitude, capable of working in a fast-paced environment, and committed to providing guests with an unforgettable dining experience.

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Must feel comfortable with the use of technology such as integrated point of sale system - Aloha, and Open Table reservations system.
  • 2 year management experience in a high volume full service restaurant. Hotel environment experience a plus.
  • Ability to operate smoothly under pressure and stress.
  • Prior Wine/Liquor knowledge not required, but a plus.
  • Ability to work in a constructive, team working environment with a positive, upbeat and customer-focused attitude.
  • Flexibility to work nights or mornings, weekends, holidays, and busy seasonal days.
