THE POSITION

The Office of Long-Term Living is looking for a self-motivated, detail-oriented licensed registered nurse to review medical records for long-term care facilities in the Pittsburgh Nursing Facility Field Operations Unit. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This Medical Records Examiner position is located within the Division of Fee for Service Operations, Bureau of Fee for Service Programs in the Office of Long-Term Living. In this role, you will be responsible for reviewing and evaluating medical and fiscal records in the Pittsburgh Field Operations Office. You will perform site review visits at nursing facilities and Living Independence for the Elderly (LIFE) centers in the following geographic areas: Allegheny; Armstrong; Beaver; Butler; Cameron; Clarion; Crawford; Elk; Erie; Fayette; Forest; Greene; Jefferson; Lawrence; McKean; Mercer; Potter; Venango; Warren; Washington; and Westmoreland counties.

The reviews consist of evaluating clinical and fiscal records in accordance with established Utilization Management Review standards and procedures to assess compliance with state and federal requirements. You will interact with other agencies and departments to ensure appropriate services are provided for individuals using long-term living services and coordinate nursing facility reviews, including pre-review, entrance and exit conferences, and all appropriate paperwork. In this position it will be essential to possess an understanding of the Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (OBRA) to evaluate and analyze the efficiencies to ensure compliance with the review requirements performed.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 5 days a week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Pittsburgh.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirement:

  • Three years of professional experience in the field of medical assistance, health care services, or human services; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirements:
  • All positions require active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania.
  • All employees possessing an active temporary practice permit must obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse within the one (1) year period defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
  • This particular position also requires you to possess a valid driver's license which is not under suspension.
