Job Summary

Do you want to identify vulnerabilities in network infrastructure devices or operating systems, and then figure out how to deal with them? Network Evaluators at NSA analyze networks and systems for weaknesses and susceptibility to attack by verifying system integrity and detecting vulnerabilities, misconfigurations and exploitation attempts. They detect, investigate, and gather intelligence in relation to compromises, and consult with customers on countermeasures and findings.

Qualifications

The qualifications listed are the minimum acceptable to be considered for the position. Degree must be in Network Engineering, Systems Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, Mathematics, Data Science, or related field (e.g., General Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Forensics, Cyber Security, Software Engineering, Information Assurance, or Computer Security). Relevant experience must be in one or more of the following: working in a security domain (e.g., cyber security, network security, information systems security, information assurance, and computer security), programming, systems architecture, vulnerability analysis, reverse engineering, malware analysis, protocol analysis, network analysis, software analysis, debugging, or security endpoint detection and response. Relevant sequences of certifications can substitute for 1 year experience. ENTRY/DEVELOPMENTAL Entry is with a Bachelor's degree and no experience. The following may also be considered for individuals with in-depth experience that is clearly related to the position: an Associate's degree plus 2 years of relevant experience; or at least 18 semester hours of military coursework/training in networking, computer science, or cyber topics plus 2 years of relevant experience. FULL PERFORMANCE Entry is with a Bachelor's degree plus 3 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree plus 1 year of relevant experience, or a Doctoral degree and no experience. The following may also be considered for individuals with in-depth experience that is clearly related to the position: an Associate's degree plus 5 years of relevant experience; or at least 18 semester hours of military coursework/training in networking, computer science, or cyber topics plus 5 years of relevant experience. SENIOR Entry is with a Bachelor's degree plus 6 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree plus 4 years of relevant experience, or a Doctoral degree plus 2 years of relevant experience. The following may also be considered for individuals with in-depth experience that is clearly related to the position: an Associate's degree plus 8 years of relevant experience; or at least 18 semester hours of military coursework/training in networking, computer science, or cyber topics plus 8 years of relevant experience. EXPERT Entry is with a Bachelor's degree plus 9 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree plus 7 years of relevant experience, or a Doctoral degree plus 5 years of relevant experience. The following may also be considered for individuals with in-depth experience that is clearly related to the position: an Associate's degree plus 11 years of relevant experience; or at least 18 semester hours of military coursework/training in networking, computer science, or cyber topics plus 11 years of relevant experience.

Competencies

We're looking for entry and experienced professionals who possess strong problem solving, analytical, communication and interpersonal skills, with knowledge or experience in one or more of the following areas: - Windows, Linux/Unix, Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, etc. - Vulnerabilities related to network infrastructure devices or operating systems - System administration - Network device / operating systems functionality, configuration, and integrity - Network architecture and analysis - Port, protocol and services analysis - Network segmentation - Network traffic analysis - Vulnerability detection, analysis and mitigations development - Reverse engineering - Scripting/programming languages (e.g., Python, Perl, C, C++, Powershell, Bash)

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

Pay: Salary offers are based on candidates' education level and years of experience relevant to the position and also take into account information provided by the hiring manager/organization regarding the work level for the position. Salary Range: $79,735 - $191,900 (Entry/Developmental, Full Performance, Senior, Expert) Salary range varies by location, work level, and relevant experience to the position. This position is hiring for Maryland and Texas locations. On the job training, internal NSA courses, and external training will be made available based on the need and experience of the selectee. Benefits: NSA offers excellent benefits to include relocation assistance, flexible work schedules, generous leave programs, paid personal fitness time, training and continuing education classes, health and life insurance, Federal Thrift Savings Plan (TSP), and a Federal retirement plan. Work Schedule: This is a full-time position, Monday - Friday, with basic 8hr/day work requirement between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. (flexible).
