A journeyman is an experienced worker whose role will vary on the line of industry where one is involved. They work without supervision from a master craftsman. Most of the responsibilities will revolve around performing manual work such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical and mechanical tasks, and other forms of trade. Journeyman electricians complete tasks related to the repair, maintenance, and installation of electrical systems. 

JOURNEYMAN RESPONSIBILITIES

• Supervising apprentices on a daily basis 
• Electrical skills required, supervisor skills, teaching skills
• Set up wires, install new fixtures, and troubleshoot systems until they come up with the correct solution
• Repair, maintenance, and installation of electrical systems
• Drive yourself to our job sites and assess their electrical systems
• Read and interpret electrical blueprints
• Use a variety of tools and techniques to repair and maintain electrical systems
• Use your knowledge to determine the best way to install new electrical systems
• Answer any questions that our customers may have about their electrical systems and components
• Ensure that you follow all safety requirements and OSHA guidelines while you work

Journeyman Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver’s license
• Formal electrician training
• Ability to use a wide variety of electrician tools and techniques
• Ability to interpret electrical blueprints and schematics
• Strong customer service skills
